Sherman, Texas is known for its cowboy culture and shooting targets. The town was founded in 1881 by O.C. Sherman and his brothers, Cyrus and George. The first target holders business in the town was established by Mr. Jorgensen in 1903. In 1907, the first rifle range in Sherman opened its doors to the public. It eventually became a state-of-the-art range that could accommodate up to 200 shooters at a time. In 1922, the first three-gun shooting competition took place in Sherman and it quickly became an annual event that attracted other local businesses as well as visitors from all over the country. By 1934, there were already more than 20 target holders businesses operating in Sherman and it had become one of the most popular hunting destinations in Texas!

Sherman, Texas is a small town in rural Williamson County, Texas. The population was 821 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The town was founded by cattle baron and landowner Judge James Dolphus Sherman in 1884. Sherman's original home still stands within its boundaries, as does the Market House restaurant which he operated from 1892 until his death in 1925. The post office was established in 1886 and has been in operation continuously since then. The first school in Sherman was built on the corner of Main and Oak Streets; it served grades 1-8 until 1907 when a new school building was constructed on Elm Street. The town's only other physical education provider up to that time was an academy which opened for girls in 1916 and closed a few years later due to financial difficulties. For many years, Sherman had one of the lowest per capita incomes among American towns because of its location near Interstate 20 (the state line). However, over the past few decades, its economy has diversified somewhat thanks to tourism and ranching as well as several new businesses opening up including a medical clinic, doughnut shop, gas station/convenience store, library system, bookstore/cafeteria combo restaurant and now a variety of retail stores including two Target stores (one inside the old high school), along with several restaurants/bars and three churches - all located within walking distance of each other. New construction projects have also kept the town growing over recent years including: a new elementary school (opened in 2003), an addition to existing courthouse (opened 2013), as well as plans for another hospital; however these are all subject to ongoing planning and funding challenges which remain unknown at this time.

This device became extremely popular among shotgunners because it gave them more options for shooting from multiple positions with greater accuracy than ever before. The popularity of target holders waned during World War II because most shotguns were used forClose Quarters Combat (CQC) instead of hunting purposes. However, Target Holder technology was later revived by firearms manufacturers during the post-war era as they began to develop new models that could be used in CQC situations such as suppressed pistols and rifles without sacrificing range or accuracy. The town was founded in 1881 by settlers from Illinois and has since grown to be one of the most populous cities in the Lone Star State. Sherman is located on the Red River near its confluence with the Brazos River, east of Austin and west of Dallas. Sherman was founded as an agricultural community on what is now Wichita Boulevard just south of West Side Highway (now I-35W). In 1881, General William Sherman razed Independence Hall, which had been used as a courthouse for years before that, to build his new military headquarters. The settlement grew quickly thanks to its location along the river and easy access to goods available farther north. By 1888, Sherman had become a thriving city with over 10,000 residents. The depression of 1893 hit hard in Sherman; businesses closed down and people lost their jobs. But despite some difficult times, residents persevered and by 1907 were enjoying high standards of living typical for frontier towns at this time. One reason why Sherman prospered during this time was its close relationship with Austin – both cities shared common interests such as education and infrastructure development; they also cooperated closely in economic ventures such as irrigation projects and stock farming initiatives. During World War II, much importance was placed on supplies brought into Houston via Sherman when it became known as "the breadbasket" of Texas because so much food came through that port alone! Sherman was founded by Scots-Irish immigrants in 1827. The town quickly grew and prospered as a cottonseed mill, post office, and agricultural center. Sherman lost its status as an important cotton seed center during the Great Depression, but regained it in the late 1930s when new mills were built. The town has since diversified its economy into manufacturing and other industries.
