Sherman, Texas is home to the oldest holster company in the United States. The first holster company in Sherman was Corner Hanger Holsters, Inc. which started business in 1922. The company produced holsters for both civilian and law enforcement users. In 1937, Corner Hanger Holsters merged with another holster company, Colt Firearms Corporation, and began producing holsters under the Colt name. This merger allowed Corner Hanger Holsters to become one of the largest holster companies in America. The following year, however, when World War II started, theholster market was disrupted by the entry of Japan into the war. As a result of this change in production strategy, Corner Hangler Holsters ceased operations in 1945. However, through mergers and acquisitions over the next few years they continued to produce high-quality holsters until they were acquired by Taurus firearms corporation in 1984. From here on out their products were released under various new names including Taurus USAHolster Company (1986-2003), American Armory Holster Company (2004-present) and finally BrownellsHolstery & Leather Co., LLC (since 2017). Over time there have been several improvements to holster design that have allowed for greater comfort and protection when carrying a firearm everyday outside or inside an urban environment. Sherman is a town in San Antonio County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,813 at the 2010 census. Sherman is located on the banks of the Trinity River. The first post office called Sherman was established in 1871. Sherman was also the site of two battles between Ulysses S. Grant and Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna during the American Civil War: Battle of Sherman on November 3, 1874 and Battle of Pecos Bridge on December 6, 1874. The town started as a small cluster of log cabins along the Trinity River. By 1870, when Sherman's first store opened its doors, there were only 30 people living hereabouts. In 1865-1867, Sherman served as headquarters for General Nathan Bedford Forrest during his slave robbery campaign in central Texas known as "The Great Johnston Raid." On October 22nd 1865 Forrest's forces sacked and burned six white churches west of Wichita Falls; these attacks are considered to be one of history's most heinous crimes against humanity. In 1904, while still an unincorporated community near Wichita Falls (now part of Wichita), residents voted to incorporate into San Antonio County under the name "Sherman". In 1907-1908 local officials built a dam across the Trinity River to provide irrigation water for their crops and create a reservoir for agricultural use; this project became known as "The Dam". When completed it formed what is now known as Third Street bridge across from present day downtownSanAntonio Today much of what used to make up western Sheridan has been destroyed by development including several subdivisions being built along Third Street just upstream from downtownSanAntonio - all without ever involving city or county government! It really speaks volumes about how things have changed since that time when such restraint would have been necessary back then!
