Seguin, Texas is a small town located in Midland County, Texas, within the Houston metropolitan area. The population was 5,813 as of the 2010 census and 6,569 as of the 2015 estimate. Seguin's ZIP code is 77301. The town of Seguin was founded by Mexicans and Anglo Americans in 1891. It became an agricultural center with cotton plantations and cattle ranches before becoming a manufacturing center for automobiles and other automobile products in the 1950s. The townsite that now delimits Seguin was settled by Mexican Texans who had arrived on horseback to find new land to farm after the American Civil War. The name "Seguin" means "place where eight rivers meet." The first post office opened in 1892; it continued to serve until 1907. In that year,Señora Lina Guerrero established a school which served children from Seguin and neighboring communities east of I-10 (now Uptown). A second school opened in 1911 on what is now FM 1960 just north of downtown Seguin. The current high school building was completed in 1951; it replaced an earlier high school built in 1909–10 which burned down. In 1964, construction began on Interstate 10 between Houston and Dallas; at its completion, I-10 would become one of North America's most heavily traveled highways

Seguin, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas that is located about seventy-five miles east of Austin and fifty-six miles west of Dallas. The town was named after Santiago de Seguin, an explorer who traveled through the area in 1845.
