One hundred years later, on September 12th, 2011 General James Seguin's remains were interred at Lone Star Cemetery in McKinney with his wife Nannie Mae Selvin and their children Lillie MaeSeGuin (brought up in nearby Waco) and James Edward "Jim" Seguin Jr..

Seguin is a town in Uvalde County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,871 at the 2000 census. It is part of the TX-Houston-TX Metropolitan Statistical Area. The town was founded by settlers in 1876 and named for Joséfa Berenguer de la Cruz y Sánchez, one of the original landowners in what would become Uvalde County. Seguin had its first post office established in 1878 and its first school in 1880. The Houston & Texas Central Railway reached Seguin on November 3, 1886. In 1907, Seguin became an incorporated municipality with a mayor and council having total power over all municipal affairs save for fire protection and policing matters which were vested with the county sheriff or his deputies. In 1912, Seguin added a water tower to its infrastructure as well as two churches—one Baptist and one Methodist—and began to build up its economy based on agriculture and ranching rather than commerce or industry. By 1920, it had some 300 residents; by 1930 it had around 1,000; by 1940 it had 4,500; by 1950 it had 11,700 people. A major growth period followed during the 1960s when many businesses opened up due to petroleum exploration within the area. However stagnation set into place during the 1970s as oil production declined while other economic opportunities developed such as ranching and tourism
The town of Seguin, Texas was founded by the Lipan Apache in 1836. The town grew rapidly and soon had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1881, Seguin became an independent city. In 1907, the town annexed the neighboring village of Wiley to increase its population to 521 people. The growth in the city led to great development in Seguin's infrastructure and economy. By 1940, the city had an estimated population of 10,000 people.
