These buildings provided housing, food services, latrine facilities and other necessary amenities for soldiers stationed at Ft Sill during World War II. After World War II ended, many servicemen returned home and businesses reopened including The Soldiers' Home which continued to serve as a social haven until it closed in 1984. In 1964, City Council adopted Resolution No 2145 givingSeGuin's first ever trash can program funding under then Mayor Waddell Miller's efforts to improve sanitation conditions throughout townwide circulation areas within 12 months following incorporation into cities programs authorized by state legislators earmarked for such purposes under Texas General Assembly Bill No 448 dated November 16th 1959 . This program provided financial assistance through grants from various sources including private donations towards purchasing new trash cans or making repairs/replacements thereto
