The town boasted a school and post office as well as a few churches and taverns. In the late 19th century, Seagoville experienced some significant growth due to its location at the crossroads of two major routes: the Central Texas Trail and US 75. This development led to increased trade and commerce in the community as well as new buildings such as hotels and businesses that served both locals and visitors alike. By 1915,Seagoville had achieved enough population stability to create its own government, which consisted of a mayor and six council members responsible for providing residents with basic needs such as education, health care, Municipal Court proceedings (such as referendums), fire protection, trash collection/storage services etcetera
The first white man to set foot in Seagoville, Texas was John C. Frémont in 1846. The town was founded by Captain James Fenton in 1836 as a trading post on the Brazos River. In 1840, Frémont built a cabin here and named it Seagoville after his ship, the USSSeagull. In 1876, Seagoville became an unincorporated community and remained so until 1942 when it became part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area.
