Seabrook, Texas is a small town in the US state of Texas. It is located in west-central Midland County, about 25 miles (40 km) south of Amarillo, the state's largest city. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1,630. The ZIP code for Seabrook is 81772. The name Seabrook is thought to derive from Spanish words meaning "shore place". At one time there were many seacoasts along the Texan coast and it was known as a stop on stagecoaches during its early years as a settlement. The first settlers in what would become Seabrook arrived around 1836 when Elijah Fenton and his family moved from Caney Creek Settlement in present-day Van Wagoner County to purchase land east of present day Lamar Road and farmsteads called Browningville, Nacogdoches, and Shiner River settlements. In 1838 Fenton donated sections 5 & 6of what would become Park Row Township to fellow settler George Graves at an auction; these sections later became part of the town site. In 1844 Isaac Richardson founded Richardson's Mills which manufactured woolen cloth and other items until 1899; this mill also contributed significantly to growth in the community by providing employment for local farmers and workers who supplemented their incomes with carpentry, farming, livestock care, blacksmithing services and retail trade. As development progressed throughout the 19th century more people began moving into Seabrook including Methodists coming from Dallas in 1851 followed by Baptists in 1861 then Presbyterians in 1865; these faiths planted churches - First Baptist Church opened on November 20th 1865 while Second Presbyterian church came open on November 21st 1888 after being built by contractor John Sibley - all within sight or reach of each other right off Park Row Boulevard which had been renamed Main Street following incorporation into town limits that year. By 1915 there were six churches located within walking distance of each other with post office at one point serving nine residents! Post office closed circa 1910 but remnants still extant today along Main Street
