Pepper spray is an American, legal and emergency police weapon that consists of a container filled with pepper gas or Mace (a non-lethal agent) that is fired at someone who has committed a misdemeanor. With the help of local militias and locals, Texas Rangers were able to quell the rebels before they could commit any further acts of violence. By 1849, pepper spray had become widely available throughout most of Texas and it had also been introduced into Mexico City where it proved useful in controlling crowds during demonstrations. In 1969, Texas legalized its own use of pepper spray after years of complaints from users about injury and even death caused by their misuse. Seabrook is a town in Gregg County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,541 at the 2010 census. The community was named for General James Seabrook, who fought in the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War. The first settler in what is now Seabrook was Isaac Hance on November 10, 1867. A post office called Seabrook was established in 1872, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912. The first store opened in 1876, and the present grocery store built 1935 is still operational. More recently, a gas station has been built along FM 1492. In 1886 Alfred Jenson started a bakery that remains open today as Alfred's Bakery Incorporated. In 1916 John Pugh established White Sands Poultry Farm which continues to produce chicken products to this day; it also operates an RV dealership and contains the world's largest number of replica cannons used during World War I
On September 25, 1836, the first steamboat left Texas for New Orleans. The ship was commanded by Captain John F. Seabrook and his crew of ten men. The voyage took five days and three nights. The steamer reached Louisiana on October 2, 1836. There, she loaded goods from the port of New Orleans to be sold in Texas. She then sailed back downriver to Corpus Christi, where she arrived on October 10th. Captain Seabrook's vessel made a rich return trip downriver two weeks later, bringing cargo back up to Texas again! This trip helped boost the economy of Corpus Christi and Texans saw their commerce increase by $2100! In November 1836, Captain Seabrook's ship set sail once more for Louisiana with new cargo but this time they stopped at Mobile Bay to sell goods before continuing on their journey back home.
