Today there are only a few remaining buildings from when Seabroook wasPrior to 1938 colonial development within Grayson County was discouraged because it conflicted with efforts made by local leaders to create an agricultural center that would be self-sufficient in food production while also accommodating cultural diversity Today's infrastructure includes several businesses including three grocery stores; two restaurants; two banks; four convenience stores; six gasoline stations; five auto dealerships; twelve farmlands; one water supply system and twenty-one residences.(Grayson County Chamber of Commerce) The history of education in Seabrook dates back to 1872 when Drury School District #3 organized their first school...A new building for grades one through twelve was erected on December 15th [1872]. This building cost $1,000 cash from Colonel John Seabrooke himself In 1902 Mrs Fannie Higgs organized her second school which operated until 1916...Mrs Higgs’ third school opened on October 12th [1902] at 350 N Main Street after raising $2,- 000 through bake sales In 1923 Mrs Fannie Higgs organized her fourth school which operated until 1929....Mrs Higgs’ fifth school opened on May 6th [1929] at 505 W Main Street In 1936 Mrs Fannie Higgs organized her sixth school which operated until 1941......Mrs Higgs’ seventh grade openned September 8th [1941]
