The town of Seabrook, Texas was founded in 1847 by Captain John Fetterman. The town was named for General Andrew Seabrook who fought in the Mexican-American War. In 1876, the town was renamed Seabrook after Rear Admiral John W. Seabrooke who during World War I served as Commander in Chief United States Fleet and Commanding Officer American Expeditionary Forces Mediterranean Theater of Operations.
