Schertz, Texas is a small town located in McLennan County, Texas. The population was 597 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area. As of the 2000 census, Schertz had a total population of 463. In 1976, Schertz businessman and Sheriff John Dent made history when he became the first law enforcement officer in Texas to wear a holster on his belt. The holster was designed by then-Sheriff Dent’s personal designer and consisted of two loops that could be easily cinched around the waistband to provide an extra level of security while law enforcement interactions took place. The holster quickly gained popularity among sheriffs throughout the state and has since been seen as one of sheriffdom’s most important tools for policing rural areas. The holsters were originally designed with protection in mind but have since become popular for other purposes such as self-defense or concealed carry purposes. Many Holster companies are now based in Schertz including Browning®, Glock®, Kimber®, S&W® & Colt®Holsters. It was used for handguns that were not too large or heavy to be carried around in a pocket or on a belt.
Schertz, Texas is a small town in Lampasas County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Schertz area has been inhabited by Native Americans for many centuries. In 1836, Captain David Garland and his party discovered what would become Schertz when they explored the area near present-day Schertz. They named it Garland's Station after Captain David Garland and his crew who discovered the location. A post office was established at Garland's Station in 1837 and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1865, General James Fenton established Fort Davis east of present day Schertz on behalf of Major General John Crouch to protect railroad access to Austin from Indians during the American Civil War. Fort Davis served as an artillery depot and later became a military hospital with patients being transported overland to San Antonio or other nearby hospitals. In 1870, land was acquired adjacent to what is now downtown Schertz by members of the Methodist Episcopal Church for use as their religious center known as "Emmalyn". This property included what is now First Baptist Church (Gleason Chapel). The first services were held at Emmalyn on December 6th, 1870; Reverend Jno Witherspoon officiated.. The church built four classrooms and a chapel which served as both church and school from 1871-1892 before becoming used as a storage warehouse for several years after that before its consecration by Bishop Elisha Dutton on February 8th 1893 which marked completion of Methodism's presence in this section of Lampasas County.. A post office called Schertz was established at this location on September 15th 1861 under direction of Colonel John Hargrave US Volunteers. As it turned out no mail reached Schertz from then until about 1865 because Union troops burned down much of eastern Lampasas County during their march through that region while trying to take Austin! After that date mail arrived regularly from here including some important items like certificates of election giving citizens voting rights! The first resident born in Schertz proper was Drusilla Lillie Swartz on October 3rd 1860 daughter of Jacob Lillie and Caroline Becker Swartz who had settled there three years earlier.. By 1880 there were only 109 residents living here according to US Census records but by 1890 there were 2200 people residing here making it one of America’s most populous small towns! One reason why so many people came to live here during this time period may have been due to numerous water shortages across rural Texas caused by climate change phenomena such as extreme drought & floods etc.? Some believe that downtown market activity & general commerce helped keep things going especially given its close proximity to major railroads? During World War II many businesses closed up shop due enemy bombing raids but reopened once hostilities stopped - some still doing so today including Brown Clothing store located right next door which operated right up until 1945!!!!!!

Schertz, Texas is a town located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 2,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Brownsville-Harlingen metropolitan area and is twinned with Lille, France. The first permanent settler in Schertz was James Dickey in 1836. Dickey's family founded a cabin on the south bank of the Brazos River near present day Schertz Lake; this became known as White Sands Ranch. A post office called White Sands was established in 1839, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1865, Schertz had a school district which included parts of Dallas County and Harlingen County; this system merged into the Dallas-Fort Worth School District in 1923. In 1912, Schertz incorporated as a city under the provisions of the Town Charter Act of 1911; it remained an unincorporated community until its incorporation as a municipality on February 15, 1932. A smallpox epidemic began to sweep through Texas during World War I and killed many people; however, no one knew what caused it or how to prevent it from happening again. As a result of this problem, Schertz erected monuments to remember those who lost their lives from that time period including: "The Last Post" by Edward Hirschman and "Pitiful Savage" by Clark Ashton Smith (both 1919). After World War II ended, many residents move away for various reasons such as job opportunities or cheaper housing prices outside of Texas; however some people decided to stay because they felt like they were part of something bigger than themselves - their town became known as "the little capital". Today, Schertz continues to be home to many businesses and professionals who are continuing its role as an important community center within its own borders while also attracting international visitors who enjoy its attractions such as Bluebonnets Festival & BBQ Event Park & State Fairgrounds
