In 1883, John Denton's two sons - Harry and Everett - moved to Schertz with their families to start anew and operate the original Green Gables Creek Station as an agricultural warehouse store. Over time, other pioneer families also arrived in Schertz including those from Illinois (John Smith and his family), Kentucky (Everett Beavers), Indiana (Jacob Sievers), Michigan (George Kapp) and Ohio (Samuel Muhlenberg). The early years of Scheritzer’s growth were difficult due to periodic drought conditions that struck the region during this time period. However, thanks to hard work by some of its earliest settlers along with support from government officials such as county judge Drury Willsinger, development slowly grew throughout the 1800s into what is today one of America’s most vibrant rural communities – home to farmers/industry workers/service providers that exercised an intimate degree of control over life within its boundaries In 1907, when Scheritzer became a municipality through state legislation passed by Texas Governor James Folsom; it marked an important milestone for the community as it came under one roof with all surrounding municipalities which helped promote economic development within our township Today we continue celebrating our wonderful past while looking forward continuing build new memories together!
