Santa Fe, Texas is a small city in the US state of New Mexico. The population was 5,545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Albuquerque-Municipality. The area that would become Santa Fe was first occupied by Native Americans who hunted and gathered food from around the area. In 1824, Mexicaneros (Mexican immigrants) moved into this area and began to build their homes and businesses. Businesses prospered because of trade with Mexico City and other parts of Latin America. In 1845, Rancho San Rafael de la Frontera was granted to Francisco Alvarado by Governor Antonio López de Santa Anna for his rancho known as Rancho Nuevo San José del Petén in present day Santa Fe County. This grant included land on both sides of the Rio Grande River east of what is now downtown Albuquerque. In 1846, President Polk issued an Executive Order creating Presidio Land Grant District #4 which included most of what is now New Mexico including all or part of present day Santa Fe County, except for some small areas near Pecos and Socorro (now eastern NM). On July 1st 1846, Ulysses S Grant became President after being elected as a Democrat to succeed Andrew Johnson in November 4th elections where he were impeached on charges including perjury and obstruction Of Justice/ Bribery although he ultimately won re-election in 2048 despite these allegations against him due to popular vote victories in key states such as Ohio etc... On December 12th 1840 Mexican War veteran Francisco Ramirez married Maria Martinez uxoris Juanana Ortiz with customary military formalities at El Rancho Real de Rosario Bridge over Rio Grande near modern Venado Heights outside Albuquerque while they waited for passage through US Customs on their way back from Vera Cruz - visas were not available at that time! They arrived just before Christmas 1840 but due to political instability over annexation by Mexico even though it had been agreed upon by all parties involved (Ulysses S Grant - then Secretary Of War), family soon left for American soil seeking safety from violence & possible war between United States & Spanish Empire... Santa Fe's early years were marked by great progress made both physically and economically thanks to its location surrounded only by beautiful mountain ranges: The Jemez Mountains formed a natural curtain around downtown driving away any summer heat while rifle range Ammo Hillowed outlying hills providing plenty cf Shooting practice good places for Agriculture also rich spruce woodlands brought much needed lumber here during winter months For many years there wasn't even electricity until 1909 when Municipal Light Company installed switchboard system finally connecting whole town
