Overall, there have been multiple attempts over the years to compile a complete list of all firearm accidents and shootings which has resulted in little progress being made towards making sure firearms are safe for everyone including those who use them regularly.

The first European to visit what is now San Marcos was the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto in 1539. The area that became San Marcos was part of Alamo Creek Indian Bottom and Mission Dolores land grant in 1821 by Santa Anna. At that time, most Texans were Mexican citizens and there was no Anglo community in the area until Americans arrived in 1835 during the Texas Revolution. The town name derived from a mission named after Saint Michael (San Miguel). The mission had been founded by Father José de la Peña y Oñate on an island near present-day Padre Island after his party rescued 300 people from a shipwreck off South Texas on November 13, 1797. In 1836, General Sam Houston established Fort Sam Houston at what is now East Side Boulevard and Interstate 10 to protect American settlers from Mexican forces advancing into Texan territory under Governor Velasco’s orders following Mexico’s great amnesty for all its citizens following its revolution against Spanish colonial rule governing much of North America. In 1850, San Marcos incorporated as a municipality with 4 square blocks of land measuring just over one acre (0.4 hectares). A post office called New Braunfels opened in 1865; it closed 1888 because mail could not be transported across the Rio Grande due to high levels of flooding caused by rains downriver caused by Hurricane Gilbert. In 1881–82 two oil wells were drilled near Martinez Springs east of present-day San Marcos; production commenced beginning March 2, 1886 but ceased because water problems developed at both wells becoming too difficult to overcome with surface technology latecomers did not have any experience or engineering expertise needed to solve these problems which required deep drilling techniques still used today despite advances made since then such as fracking technology which has eliminated most water challenges
The San Marcos Missions were established in 1821 by the Spanish mission system. The first Mission, San Francisco de Asís, was built in 1823 and the second, San Felipe de Neve, in 1829. The missions were successful and grew rapidly, but they ultimately failed because of a lack of support from the Spanish government. In 1840, the Mexican government took over authority over the Missions and started to build its own missions throughout Texas. The San Fernando Rey Mission was founded in 1851 and the AlamoMission in 1836.
