Ammo has a long and storied history in San Marcos, Texas. The community has been involved in the manufacturing of ammunition for over 100 years. Ammunition production began in 1887 when eccentric developer John Marshall set up a small shop on the east side of town to make bullets for his shooting matches. Today, Ammo is one of the leading businesses in town and continues to produce high-quality rounds for pistols, shotguns, rifles and other compatible firearms. The first batch of ammunition produced at Ammo was surplus military brass that had been stockpiled during World War I. At the time, ammo was still considered an important commodity because it could be used to shot targets from long distances with accuracy. In 1923, Ammo started manufacturing its own rounds under the name “Bolt Action” cartridges. It wasn’t until 1934 that they introduced their standard round – the .30 caliber Rimfire Bullet – which remains popular to this day. In 1949, Ammo moved into its current location on Main Street in downtown San Marcos. The building has been home to Ammunition ever since and today it houses more than 25 different departments specializing in various aspects of ammo production including bullet development, testing and certification; marketing; sales; distribution; shipping; QC/testing; warehousing and storage; as well as customer service initiatives such as online ordering and social media support. Ammunition production is now conducted under two umbrella brands: Winchester Repeating Arms Company (WRC) and American Eagle Firearms Company (AEFC).Both companies maintain a strong presence within their respective markets while also cooperating closely with other brands within the industry to ensure consistency across all product lines.Today, Winchester Repeating Arms Company produces both jacketed hollow point (.223 Remington) rounds as well as centerfire rifle rounds such as 5 Creedmoor Magnum bullets made using premium brass cases manufactured by American Eagle Firearms Company’s parent company Browning Incorporated designations referencing calibers such as .308 Winchester®, 7mm Magnum®, 10 mm Auto® etc.). San Marcos is a city in Texas, United States. The population was 30,635 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The first European to set foot in what is now San Marcos was Spanish explorer Ambrosio de Montoya on October 21, 1536. He named it Villa de las Nieves because of its crushing sandstorms that could be seen from the town's palace and other buildings located near the Massacre Creek. In 1821, Antonio López de Santa Anna founded a new settlement called Victoria, which he named for his daughter-in-law, Queen Victoria of England. Santa Anna had married Maria Luisa Páez y Costilla on December 12th 1820 in Mexico City and they were both British subjects. After Mexican independence from Spain on November 25th 1821, Santa Anna founded Victoria under American auspices as San Antonio dos Tejanos (now Austin). At first glance San Marcos may have seemed like an ideal place to build a new community after all of America's recently acquired land west of the Rio Grande had been given away - but there were several problems with this plan: 1) no water; 2) no means to transport goods or people; 3) high cost of land; 4) lack of natural resources such as timber or cattle; 5) opposition by Mexicans who saw their opportunity to create a new rancho (ancestral home), while English citizens viewed San Marcos as nothing more than another American outpost on their side of the border. Despite these challenges and many setbacks over the years, progress was made towards building what would eventually become San Marcos when construction began on what is now First Street near Trinity Church in 1872. The town's name effectively came into being when US Congressman James Aikens dedicated two blocks east of Trinity Cathedral - including current Fourth Street - during a hearing entitled "A Bill To Dredge & Sewer My Streets" on December 9th 1870. When completed, Aikens' dream became reality as one half mile wide streets ran parallel to each other down every block with monumental apartment buildings towering above everything else until one reaches today's University District where most residents still live today! As time passed and life slowly started settling into its routines within what would become known as "The Old Town", businesses grew up around downtown - such as law offices and stores that served everyone from farmers to ranchers living outside of Austin proper – but never forgetting about those inside TheOldTown who helped make it all happen! In 1936 Mayor Alfred Waddell appointed Jock Mahoney – fatheroftherockneyjockcomicstripcreatorandfounderofthesanmarcoscomicstrip–asmayor pro tem., givingsanmarcositsownlawsandordinanceswhich survivetothisday! During World War II much activity took place within downtown due to wartime production needs including munitions plants and manufacturing plants run by munitions companies like Bendix-Winchester and Browning-Arsenal which employed many locals native son like Jack Mahoney himself! Additionally some important government buildings were constructed here such as Travis County Courthouse Annex built in 1942 sandwiched between Second Street NW and Third Street NE which has since been filled with office space occupied by various county departments responsible for everything from assessor’s rolls to public safety! In 1957 voters approved Measure H – referredtothenewtownhoodplanning ordinance – making it official policy for thenewtownthatallpropertywithinitbeacquiredbythecityforpublicusewithoutfirst obtainingapermitfromthecity Manager! The town of San Marcos, Texas was founded in 1846 by American settlers. It became a U.S. military post during the Mexican-American War and served as a staging ground for operations against Mexican forces in California. The town was abandoned after the war and then reoccupied by Americans until it was burned down in 1870 by pro-slavery partisans working to prevent Reconstruction from taking hold in Texas.
