Zaragoza believed that America was too far away for Spain so he decided instead to attack Mexico City from scratch! Unfortunately for him his army didn't make it all the way across the ocean and he lost many soldiers and supplies along the way!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!! So much for invading from up north...lol

The first Europeans to set foot in what is now San Benito County were the Spanish in 1823. In 1836, San Francisco was founded by Mexican immigrants and it was not until 1840 that a post office was established at present-day Fillmore.
