Other types of gunsights included canons (a stand-alone sighting device that wasn’t attached to a rifle), “bombshells” which looked like cannons with a downward pointing arrow sticking out of them and “bulldog eyes” which utilized an inverted V magnifying glass so shooters could see what they were looking at even when it was dark outside. A major innovation during the late 19th century was the development of reflex sights which allowed shooters to keep their eye on their targets without having to look down at their rifles all the time. Reflex sights became popular after being adopted by both cavalry and infantry units; cavalry units found them easier and more efficient to use because they didn’t require constant focus, allowing them to move around better and fight with greater speed when engaged against enemy forces. After World War I ended, many companies merged into one organization resulting in numerous firearm manufacturers across the United States including Winchester Repeating Arms Company, ArmaLite Firearms Inc., Colt Military arms Corporation, Remington Arms Company etcetera who introduced reflex sights into new firearms designs including centerfire rifles such as bolt action shotguns and pistols such as revolvers and revolvers chambered for rimfire cartridges such as .22 calibers. Although reflex sights have largely disappeared from American society since World War II due to advances in technology, they are still remnants found throughout various other countries eases where people still find interest in using these devices for fun or military purpose
