By 1830s most Native Americans had either died or emigrated to other parts of Michigan or Canada while some continued living among their tribes until 1835 following provisions set out by Indian Removal Act which ended all remaining native control over land within Upper Michigan except for reservations managed by federal government After years of discussion between politicians from Detroit and Ottawa about how best to handle Huron (the local tribe) people who were squatting on unceded lands east of Mackinac Island as well as people along lower Straits Of Mackinac (a group including many Cheyenne) several treaty signings took place on September 15th 1796 at Pontiac Creek Treaty Grounds resulting in ceded land southwesterly boundary being shifted 10 miles due east from present day downtown Saginaw towards lower Straits Of Mackinac A new town developed around what is now Superior Street northeast corner of Washington Avenue with buildings continuing northward up Superior Street past today's State Hall Annex building into what is now much older White Settlement where upon reaching its eastern border with Ottawa Township it split off into two separate townships each named after their respective Governors: Ottawa Township on the Ontario side and Negaunee Township on the Michigan side One possible reason why Ottawa Township became known as "Ontario" was because residents there - mostly Irish immigrants - participated heavily initance politics throughout much of Canadian Confederation although their share did not reach parity with Michigan natives until after Ontario seceded from Canada In 1903 main street designation changed again becoming "Highway 9" northbound/southbound running parallel to present day Superior Street

Saginaw, Texas is a city in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 24,567 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The Saginaw River forms its eastern border and flows through the city. The first permanent settler in what would become Saginaw was Isaac Watts who arrived there in 1827. He and his family built a cabin on the riverbank and started trading with the Indians. In 1829, John Crain founded an agricultural colony near present-day Saginaw and named it after his birthplace in Scotland, Dunfermlineshire. In 1837, General Sam Houston bought land west of Houston on which to build a new capital city called Nacogdoches. On July 8, 1837, Houston designated Saginaw as the capital of Texas because he wanted to demonstrate that Texans were a separate people from Mexicans who had settled in Mexico City since independence from Spain. The site for Nacogdoches was chosen because it lay between two branches of the Brazos River – one flowing east to San Antonio and another flowing west to Nacogdoches – making it easy for traders to move goods crosswise through Texoma territory. In 1840–41 Txarka Gonzalez established what became known as "Gonzalez's Mill" on Buffalo Bayou just east of Saginaw proper; this mill continued operations until conversion into a house by developer Lamar Hunt in 1954 caused its ruinous condition (the bricks are still visible inside). On December 5, 1850 Union Pacific Railroad began construction across Brazoria County north of Nacogdoches on land now occupied by downtown Saginaw; trains stopped at sidings located northeast and northwest of town before continuing southeast along Buffalo Bayou past Gonzales' Mill until they reached campgrounds near present-day Slaughter Point Marina where troops disembarked for their march down Trinity Creek en route to Fort Worth while supplies were unloaded at Gonzales' Mill; major events such as this helped establish downtown Nacogdoches as an important center for commerce and industry during the early days of Texans’ Republic (1861–1865). It was re-named Saginaw in 1881 when Michigan merged with Union County to form Saginaw County. The first post office at Saginaw was established in 1836 and closed in 1840 because there wasn't enough land to build a new post office.
