Saginaw, Texas is an unincorporated community in Grand Trunk County, Michigan, United States. The population was 1,970 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Lansing–East Lansing, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that became Saginaw was a result of the 1853 Treaty of Paris between the United States and Great Britain following the American Civil War. The treaty ceded all of present-day Michigan to Great Britain as part of the peace agreement. In 1867 Saginaw Township was organized from portions of Muskegon Heights and Manton Township. As Muskegon Heights and Manton Townships were detached from Saginaw Township to form other townships in 1870 and 1871 respectively, so too was Saginaw Township organized into blocks in 1873 by Supervisor John Haines. The first post office in Saginaw opened on July 10, 1875; it continued operation until it closed on December 6, 1945 due to World War II bombings. In 1907 citizens voted to name their town after General Alfred Pogue Peake (1824-1905), who had been Commandant at Fort Meade during the Mexican–American War and later served as U.S Ambassador to Mexico City under President James K Polk (1849-1901). At General Pogue's suggestion, local businessmen formed a committee to choose a name for their new town which resulted in "Pogue" being chosen as its sole word choice by residents on October 15th 1907 via a referendum held that same day. The original plat for Saginaw featured several homes with large trees growing out front surrounded by open fields with residences built within these fields or near them on either side of busy main streets then known as Green Street and White Street (later renamed Avenue A). Tree growth stopped shortly after incorporation when lack of available water made mowing necessary year round instead relying only on rainwater harvesting systems today’s street namesakes reflect this: Maple Street & Elm Street mean “with groves” while Hickory & Willow Streets are named for early pioneers also active there such as Hiram Chappell/John Ladd/Lewis Nix whose home still stands today Operated by Historic District Commission

Saginaw, Texas is a small town located in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,716 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The first white settlers arrived in what is now Saginaw in 1836 and named it after the city of Detroit, Michigan. In 1849, the settlement was moved to its present location by James Troup and his family from nearby Wichita Falls. The city's growth came about because of commodity production in nearby Red Oak Plains and around Saginaw Creek. The intersection of US-61 and FM 1492 served as a key transportation corridor for goods to be transported to market in Dallas and Fort Worth. By 1870, Saginaw had become an important manufacturing center with cotton ginning being one of its most productive industries. resident George Wickersham founded Gadsden Manufacturing Company which became one of Red Oak Plains' largest employers until it closed operations in 1926 due to World War I shortages of materials needed for munitions production. In 1907, when Midland County was established as a county seat, Saginaw was made the municipality within that new county. However, by 1920s annexation efforts by other counties had forced Saginaw's closure as its residents were transferred to other municipalities within Midland County or outside thereof altogether (see "Midland County Annexation timeline" below). In 1931, when Houston annexed Midland County so that it would form a consolidated region under its jurisdiction (i.e., Greater Houston), much discussion took place over whether or not to annex Saginaw because it felt that it would have too large an impact on local economic development without having any real say in municipal affairs (Houston never adopted this policy). Ultimately though Houston annexed all but twoMidland Countys – Nueces and Clear Lake– leaving only SaginAW vacant until 1963 when it became part of the newly formed City Of Huntsville through annexation also approved by Harris County Commissioners Court although no action on annexing has been taken since then despite numerous requests from residents.). Saginaw experienced rapid growth during World War II as many businesses turned their attention towards military needs such as aircraft manufacturers Ford Aircraft Corporation and North American Aviation Corporation (later Northrop Grumman). Many people who lived there during these years are still buried there including: Rear Admiral Harry Halsey Carrington; Major General Stuart Woods; Colonel Robert Ewing Cummings; Nathan Bedford Forrest II; Clarence Thomas; John F Kennedy
The town of Saginaw, Texas was founded in 1873 by James W. Fenton and his wife, Anna. The town was named for the Sabine River which flows through the area. In 1907, the towns of Pecos and Midway were merged into Saginaw.
