Sachse is a small town in Williamson County, Texas, located on the banks of the Sabine River. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. Sachse is part of the Wichita Falls-based Midland Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Caddo Indian tribe inhabited what is now Sachse for over 10,000 years before white settlers arrived in 1836. In 1881, John Pemberton organized a Geological Survey of Texas and named Sachse after George Washington Sachse, an American landowner and surveyor who had been involved in the organization. A post office was established at Sachse in 1887, and until 1907 it was known as "Pemberton". In 1902, local farmers formed the Lions Club to improve agricultural conditions in their community by forming cooperatives. The club's first president was Wm. Fenton; current president is Bill McFarlane. After World War II ended, many businesses closed down or were sold off due to competition from other towns in Williamson County such as Wichita Falls and Garland. However, several small businesses have continued to operate since then including H&R Block (now HSBC) which opened its first store here in 1951; Circle K (now ConocoPhillips) which opened its first store here in 1961; and First National Bank (now Jardine Matheson) which opened its doors here in 1984. In 2002 entrepreneur Darnell Earley created a business park called "Ender's Park" adjacent to Gilbert Airport that currently has more than 100 businesses represented from across various industries including healthcare (Medtronic), manufacturing ( Boeing Co.), retail ( Macy's), food services ( Subway), real estate ( Lennar Corporation), construction/housing( Kiewit Corporation), energy/mining( Rio Grande Energy Partners LP) and technology( Apple Inc.). According to the United States Census Bureau, Sachse has a total area of , all of it land. It borders Midland on the east side and Wichita Falls on the west side

Sachse is a town located in El Paso County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,216 at the 2000 census. It is part of the El Paso-Juarez-Edinburg Metropolitan Statistical Area. Sachse has a post office with ZIP code 89527. The first settler in Sachse was John Crouch who arrived in 1847. He and his family were the first white people to live in what is now Sachse. A year later, Samuel Sutherland established a store there. In 1850, three families bought land from John Crouch and moved into the town site. They named it Sachse after their home village, Sachsenhausen, Germany. By 1860, all of Sachse's residents had moved out because of the American Civil War and Reconstruction efforts to rebuild America following the war. In 1875, Elijah Poe set up a general store in what is now downtown Sachse and soon became one of Texas' most important commercial interests due to its connections with irrigation projects throughout central Texas as well as its location on the Santa Fe Railroad line between Juarez and El Paso (later known as I-25). In 1892 he sold his interest in the business to Wm Henson for $1 million dollars which made him one of America's richest men at that time; he would continue running Henson Grain Elevators until his death in 1959. In 1907 local businessmen Chas Gentry and Willis Jarrell developed an artificial watercourse called "Prairie du Champlain" which supplied drinking water for many miles around rural area including parts of current Day El Paso County including Sachse; this watershed would eventually become known as "The River", providing much needed clean water for citizens since over two centuries ago when Native Americans hunted game nears where Prairie du Champlain once sat today! An interesting footnote about Prairie du Champlain - prior to its incorporation into City Limits Park District #1 on July 1st 1954 - there used to be acres & acres of undeveloped agricultural land east of present day Elmendorf Road/Prairie du Champlain Rd just west of IH 35 between Guadalupe Rd & Pecos Rd just south side Of FM 1912 east Of US 54A On July 1st 1954 City Limits Park District #1 came into being when acreage formerly belonging to Prairie Du Champlain Agricultural Land Corporation was transferred from adjacent unincorporated areas within City Limits Park District #2!
Sachse was founded in 1836 by Levi Sachse and his wife, Sarah. The town was named after Captain Friedrich Sachse who died in 1835 while serving in the Texas Army. In 1865, the town was renamed for General John Fetterman.
