The first gun mag in Sachse was started by Joshua Doughty in 1872. It was a small shop run by his father-in-law, John Purdy. At its inception, the company sold ammunition and ranged weapons. In 1907, the company was bought by George Eastman & Sons. The next year saw the launch of the "Sachse Eagle" journal which became an important source of information for both shooters and journalists. In 1934, Sanborn & Sutcliffe merged with Eastman Chemical Company to become Swann Corporation. This led to a period of growth for gun mags as well as increased production capacity at Swann Corporation's facilities in Wichita Falls and Danbury, Connecticut. In 1949, Gun Digest Incorporated was formed within Swann Corporation and began producing magazine issues that would continue to be popular until 1978. During this time period, there were also numerous expansions and acquisitions made by various companies including Hennig & Co., JBL Firearms Manufacturing Company (now Kahr Arms), Savage Arms Company (now Smith & Wesson), Browning Arms Company (now Remington) and more...gun magazines continue to be produced today by various manufacturers throughout North America!

The Remington ArmsCompany relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts in 1912. In 1907, he donated land for a local high school which became known as "Sachse High."In 1949, Sachsenschule merged with Lehman Brothers High School to form Lehman Brothers/Sachsenschule which still operates today as an all-girls high school. In 1960, Dell bought Lehmans/Sachsenschule and renamed it "Dell Community Schools." Today, Dell is one of America's largest technology companies and its campus covers 6 acres in downtown Sachse. Sachse, Texas (formerly Anahuac County) is a city in and the county seat of Sachse County, Texas, United States. The population was 8,914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The city was founded by German colonists in 1876 and named for Jacob Sachse, a leading citizen. In 1887, Sachse became one of twenty American counties to be organized as part of the new state of Texas. The city annexed neighboring unincorporated communities in 1952. Sachse's location on the Red River caused it to become an important transportation center during the early days of Texan cattle ranching and oil production. In 1957, when Texarkana became its larger sister city designation within Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area, Sachse became its sister city as well. The two cities have been associated with each other ever since. In September 2013, they announced that they would merge into one entity called "Sachs City".
