The first settler in Sachse was John A. Sachse who arrived in 1845. The town was named after Jacob Sachse, a nobleman from Germany who had come to Texas as a cattle buyer in the 1850s. In 1872, James J. Baugh purchased land and organized the village of Achille into an independent city with its own government and school system. However, this arrangement only lasted until 1901 when Achille became part of Wichita Falls. For many years it was one of the most important centers for farming and ranching in western Parker County; however, since the early 21st century it has been losing some of its importance due to suburban development and other economic factors. A post office called Achille had been established in 1872, but no mail went through because there wasn’t enough business for someone to deliver mail all day long! Finally, on July 10, 1902, Schermerhorn Bros., Lumbermen decided to open up their building on Main Street between 2nd and 3rd Streets (later renamed Schermerhorn Place) as a "Post Office Express". This new service proved very successful and quickly became known throughout Sachse as "the Mail House." By 1907 there were six Post Offices in Sachse - three operated by Schermerhorn Brothers & Company (the others being run by Pemberton Bros., Lewis Cooley & Sons), Wiebe Machine & Foundry Company (owned by Hennepin Tool Works), Steele-Bauer Brewing Company (owned by George Dorman), and Smith-Dorman Hardware Store (owned by Rufus Wiebe). In 1922 Parker County installed electric lights at various public buildings including the courthouse which served as both a model for other counties across Texas followed suit later that year statewide allowing towns/cities to have their own municipal services with limited or no involvement from county authorities

In 1886, the town became part of Wichita County when it was organized. In 1907, Sachse became a city when it annexed the neighboring towns of Springdale and Newton.
