Rowlett is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas located about 25 miles northeast of Fort Worth. The population was 7,878 at the 2010 census. The Rowlett School District serves the community. The name Rowlett comes from pioneer John Cargill's donation of land to the city in 1876. A post office was established in Rowlett in 1881 and remained open until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1924, Harry Bowers opened a grocery store in what is now downtown Rowlett and continued to operate it until his death in 1978. He bequeathed his business to his son, HJ Bowers Jr., who operated it until 1992 when it became an independently owned convenience store chain with six stores throughout Tarrant County. In 2002, Harry's grandson Don Bowers donated most of the structures on Main Street (now Broadway) back to the City of Rowlett for use as a public square which still exists today. In 2006, Harry's granddaughter Laura started operating her grandfather's old grocery store on Broadway which continues to operate as an independently owned grocery store today with over 100 employees! In 1899, Rollie Ladd founded the first livery service inrowlet and continued operations until he sold it to WN Snider Sr. who then merged with JW Snider’s Livery Co., Incorporated (later JW Snider Transportation). This company provided transportation for farmers and other local businesses into Fort Worth during the early 1900s; their services were later augmented by bus service across Tarrant County before being dissolved entirely by 1980s! In 1902-1903 Gertrude Swenson ran a millinery shop adjacent to her home near where Main Street now stands; this shop remains open today as Gertrude Swenson Millinery & Dressmaking Ltd.. In 1928-1929 Mrs Smith ran a 100% cotton candy factory on Beaumont Road between US 287 and IH 35; this factory closed its doors after only one year due to economic difficulty however Mrs Smith continues operationally present inside her current residence currently used as storage! In 1933-1934 Arlene Reeves ran an ice cream parlor on Elm Street between US 287/IH 35 and MLK Boulevard; this business also closed its doors after only one year due to economic difficulties however Arlene Reeves still operates her Parlor inside her current residence currently used as storage!

Rowlett is a small town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,871 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first people to live in Rowlett were French colonists who arrived in 1799. They named their settlement after James Rowlett, an Englishman who had settled in Louisiana and then Texas. In 1836, when Mexico gained independence from Spain, the Mexican government assigned it to Midland County as part of a land grant given to wealthy Anglo Americans such as Sam Houston and Alonzo Harris. The community began to grow rapidly during the 1840s because of its natural resources—hardwood forests, water supplies, and mineral rights—and its location on the Railroad Supply Route connecting Fort Worth with San Antonio and Mexican City. By 1865, Rowlett had developed into one of the largest towns in Texas. During World War II, Rowlett played an important role in helping build up Allied forces on both sides of the war effort by providing housing for soldiers and supplying them with food and ammunition. After the war ended, many rowlers returned home to rebuild their businesses and homes; however, some remained until current day as retirees or workers at nearby ethanol plants or other local businesses. In 2001–2002 a $25 million renovation project occurred that restored many historical buildings within town limits including churches (St John's Episcopal), schools (Midland High School & First Baptist Church), post office (1884), railroad depot (1929/30), dance hall (1910) & movie theater (1946). Additionally new streets were also built including Main Street (#1) which runs east-west between downtown Rowlett & Interstate 2085 while #2 runs north-south between downtown Rowlett & US 290; these streets are now known as "The Square" within town limits after being renamed following restoration work completed there in 2001-2002
