Gun magazines have been around for a long time in Rowlett, Texas. The first gun magazine was started in 1881 by John W. Dacus and his brother-in-law, James A. White. The magazine was called the "Cowboy Gazette." In 1907, the first issue of the "Rowlett Review" was published. The review was started by George Hargrave and continued by his son, George Hargrave Jr. until 1951 when it became the "Rowlett Chronicle." In 1911, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Salsbury opened the first grocery store in Rowlett and began selling shotgun shells and rounds to residents of Rowlett and surrounding townships. They also sold guns along with ammunition to customers at their store. This led to the beginning of gun sales within town limits in Rowlett. In 1938, Ladd Gun Stores Inc., based out of Wichita Falls, Texas began importing firearms into Rowlett from all over North America including Europe as well as Asia due to its large customer base thereabouts (at that time Wichita Falls had no airport). At that time Ladd had about 190 employees including 40 officers who handled inventory, sales, marketing, research and development for their products as well as providing administrative support services such as training programs for new employees and maintaining records on product innovations/changes/variations etc.. Ladd grew quite rapidly during World War II; adding more personnel (now 60) plus another 20 officers handling inventory (now 50) during wartime production while also conducting research on new products/technologies which were then brought back into production lines immediately following hostilities ended - making them one of the few truly wartime private industry companies engaged in peacetime commercial operations! After hostilities ended Ladd stopped producing firearms but continued trading ammo & firearms thru agencies like USPSA through its agent network until 1978 when it closed its doors forever due to economic difficulties caused by advancements in technology (& personal 2nd Amendment rights)! Only 2 years after WWII ended did handgun manufacture recommence within TX — this being done via Caliber Manufacturing Company located just outside Fort Worth which commenced manufacturing Glock pistols before eventually going out of business too! From here on handguns would be manufactured outright within TX without any importation or exporting… until finally S&W produced revolvers here starting in 1984! So handguns now come ‘straight from Dallas’ although demand seems always highest nearer home 😉

The Rowlett Rifle Club was founded in 1892. The club developed into the Rowlett Rifle and Pistol Club, which enjoyed a long and successful history until World War II. In 1942, the club became the Rowlett Rifle and Pistol Association. The association operated continuously through the war, with many accomplishments including serving as president of the Texas Section of NRA from 1945 to 1947.
Rowlett is a town in McLennan County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,509 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan statistical area. The Rowlett- biases were first identified by scientist Harry Andersen in 1948 and named after him for his discovery that villagers in rural areas of Scandinavia had higher levels of arsenic than people living in major cities. However, Rowlett's arsenic levels have remained relatively stable over time and no connection between Rowlett's arsenic levels and its location has been found. The name "Rowlett" comes from English settlers John Ewing and his wife Martha (née Brown) Rowlett coming to what is now McLennan County in 1837 looking for land to farm. Their son George Ewing rowled a boat around the bend on the Trinity River which led them to their current location. There are several theories about where the town originated - one suggests that it was named after pioneer doctor James Rowlett who built a small clinic here in 1854 before moving to Fort Worth. Another theory suggests that it was named after an early settler, Anna Fenton (1814-90), who ran a grocery store hereabouts until she lost her husband to pneumonia near McKinnerville numbed many Texans with sore throats duringsevere colds then known as "the Fenton Flu". A final explanation suggests that Rowlett may have come about because one local family made such great contributions to this community - they donated land for a park which still exists today adjacent to Hillsboro Elementary School.

The original settlers were farmers and their families, but by 1870 Rowlett had become a town of over 10,000 people. By 1905 Rowlett had also become the county seat of Cameron County.
