In 1978, Winchester divested itself of its rifle production business to make way for Remington Arms Company which continued to produce rifle stocks until 1995 when it merged with Marlin Firearms Corporation to form Remington Arms & shotgun corporation (RA&SHC). Today, RA&SHC manufactures pistols as well as shotguns under three different brands including Remington Arms®, Mossberg®, and Smith & Wesson® products lineups.

ROUND ROCK, TEXAS (USA) - Round Rock is a city in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 581 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Williamson County. The first permanent settler in Round Rock was James Hensley in 1836. A post office called "Round Rock" was established in 1839, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1875. RoundRock Township, which includedRound Rock proper and much of today's Austin suburb of Slaughtertown, was organized November 3, 1850; the township became a city on December 12, 1870. In 1901 the town of Slaughtertown merged with Round Rock to form a new city-county government; this consolidation remains an important part of RoundRock history to this day. The current name for RoundRock is "City of Austin". In 1907 Austin City Council passed an ordinance offering free water to all inhabitants within its limits; this offer led to the founding of Waterfront Park which includes most of downtown Austin today as well as several other neighborhoods outside the central business district. In 1915 Congress passed an act providing for creation of an air forcebase at Alamogordo Army Airfield adjacent to and south of Fort Worth; construction began on Alamogordo Army Airfield on July 26, 1916 and completed on December 17th that year. This base served as homeport for many American planes during World War I including V-2 flying boats from USS Lexington (CV-4), F6F Hellcat fighter aircraft from USS Hornet (CV-8), P-40 Warhawk fighters from RAF Lakenheath Station UK., Bf 109E Tigers from Rheims-Charcourt airfield France., P-51 Mustang fighters from RFC Beale Street Airport California., etc.; also radar sets were set up here including: Alhambra Axis Tube & Radar Detector/Scanner Set #1 1941–1945 (#815), Alhambra Axis Tube & Radar Detector/Scanner Set #2 1944–1946 (#816), Alhambra Microwave Array Scanning Receiver/Detectors 1945–1948 (#810) and prototypes for both radar sets were built by Northrop Aircraft Dept.(Aircraft Production Division) under contract NOAACE #37803 which became AN/APG5). Alamogordo AFB closed its doors on September 1st 1951 after serving its purpose for almost forty years!
