Round Rock, Texas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the county seat of Williamson County. The population was 204,828 at the 2010 census. It is located in the Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of 3,095,362. The area that would become Round Rock was first settled by families of Scots-Irish descent in 1836 as part of what is now Williamson County. In 1839, James Mays founded the town site on an east-west road near modern day Slaughter Road and Cypress Creek. By 1860, Round Rock had reached its current size with 131 residents and 2 stores. In 1876, Mayor John Hogg organized a volunteer fire department to fight fires within town limits; this became one of Roundrock's defining features and helped make it a thriving community full of people who were interested in keeping their surroundings clean and safe for their children and pets. After rounds of voting to determine its boundaries (the final vote happened on March 14th), Round Rock officially became a city on January 26th, 1907 when City Council members unanimously ratified resolutions declaring themselves "a municipal corporation under contract with the State". The incorporation process took two years due to objections from some citizens who felt they were not being treated fairly as compared to other municipalities in Travis County that had already been incorporated. On July 1st 1912 Thicknall Bros., Merchants Warehouse Company & Grain Elevator company merged into Riley Hardware store then moved across Slaughter Road into what would become known as Roundrock Plaza followed by First National Bank building completed in 1914 becoming one of just four banks in Austin at that time (the others being Houston Methodist bank), along with United States Trust Company & Savings Bank Building finished 1915 also becoming one of only three banks west side Austin until it went out OF TX operations 1984). That same year saw construction begin on US 90 which bisected downtown RDW serving as main street through both towns until finally connecting IH 10 southbound & RR 620 eastbound concurrent forming Edwards Branch Rd making roundabout possible east/west travel without having to drive down Main Street or go around back streets like today! Today you can still see evidence left over from this early travelers during prohibition days including bootleg liquor stills hidden inside service stations today

In 1839, the Republic of Texas was founded and began its journey to become an American state. The area that is now Round Rock was first settled by Indian tribes in the early 1800s. In 1847, a group of men from Missouri led by Nathaniel Lyon arrived in what is now Round Rock and founded the first white settlement. The town's name came from a nearby mountain range, Rocky Mount. The townsite was initially called "Ville Rouge" because it lay at the junction of two trails that served travelers heading south for cotton plantations in Mexico City or north for Fort Worth. By 1850, however, locals had renamed the town after their patron saint - St. Patrick - in order to attract Catholics to its shops and churches. In 1861, during the American Civil War, Confederate soldiers burned down a local church and killed six people inside. This event helped round uproundRock's Catholic population and make it difficult for them to support themselves outside of their homes until Reconstruction ended in 1865. Round Rock continued growing as a center of culture throughout the late 19th century before experiencing someDecline during World War II due to declines in industry and military activity across Texas. However, since then,the city has experienced significant growth thanks to new businesses and residential development along Elm Street downtown which has helped create an arts community as well as multiple job opportunities for residents throughout the city..
