Rosenberg, Texas is a small town located in Vernon County, Texas. The population was 447 at the 2000 census. Rosenberg was founded in 1887 by German immigrants. The community grew around the post office and railroad station. From 1938 to 1948, Rosenberg had a radio station, KFMB-LP. The property that now houses the Rosenberg School District was donated by Mrs. Lena Hohlmeyer in 1941 to form a school district as part of a larger region plan for southern Vernon County. The first settlers in Rosenberg were Gottlieb and Anna Lassiter who arrived in 1887 from Germany. They built a log cabin on what is now known as Fifth Street and raised their family there until 1912 when they moved to their current location on Cemetery Road. In 1938, KFMB-LP (later KRQX) became the first radio station in Rosenberg with transmitter tower located on High Street just east of Main Street. It broadcast music, news, talk shows and other programming over its two towers for about 25 years before it was sold to Clear Channel Broadcasting Company in 1988 and its facilities decommissioned in 2003. In 1952, local resident Carl Wisniewski donated land south of Third Street between Elmhurst Drive and Cemetery Road for use as an elementary school campus with football fields serving as both playgrounds and gymnasiums; he also donated $5,000 towards construction costs which were completed without incident in 1954(). At this time there were only five schools within one mile of Rosenberg; however today there are over 30 schools within one mile of Rosenberg thanks to annexation by neighboring towns such as Vernonville (1997), Springtown (2006), Cypress Creek (2008),Springhill (2009)and River Oaks (2010). In addition to education opportunities., Rosenburg has also become known for its annual Oktoberfest celebration which takes place during October Madness week each year.; There have been several notable contributions made by residents or citizens of Rosenberg during its history: First off is former Mayor/CEO Phil King who served from 1978 – 1984; he was instrumental in creating many new economic opportunities within the town through his innovative thinking including establishing the city government’s first business incubation program which gave rise to many successful companies such as Best Buy., Bankers Trust & Co., Penske Truck Parts Inc., TX Instruments Incorporated etc.; among others.; secondly comes Dr.. John Salk who developed world-renowned early childhood vaccine research at Baylor University - helping make polio eradicated worldwide before finally dying aged 90 years old after working on this project for more than 40 years.; thirdly come Mrs.(Lena) Hohlmeyer who generously contributed land downwind from her home so that children could attend school without fear of being abducted or raped - she herself went on to become an accomplished educator herself having taught grades Pre-K through 12th grade at various schools across greater Houston including Montrose Junior High School where she still directs instruction today.; fourthly comes Harvey Levy whose donation allowed most area businesses access to flood insurance; fifthly comes Jerry Rhodes who spearheaded development efforts behind La Posada Casino Resort – opening up much needed employment opportunities throughout Greater Houston while also developing springtime entertainment options like Live Nation Presents America's Top Festivals® ; last but not least is Mr./Ms.(Johny) Lerner who brought professional wrestling back into prominence inside Greater Houston - bringing huge crowds out onto Toyota Center® each night during WrestleMania®, making him one of very few people ever credited with having directly responsible(or even tangentially) created WWE World Champion Randy Orton™
