There were also prototype revolvers made by the company whichfired live rounds but never gained popular acceptance due to their heavy recoil and poor accuracy.. In 1915, Jacob Wirthman opened up his own rifle shop in Rosenbergs Brushy Hill district which became known as Wirthmans Gun Shop & Ammunition Depot. This store started selling Winchester rifled bullets under the name Heater Bullets(later changed to American projectiles). The store continued to sell ammunition until it closed in 1975 after over 40 years in business.. The immediate predecessor of present day Rosenberg Shooting Range began operations as Chisago Ammunition Factory on July 1st 1907 when local businessmen George Kappler and Fenton Ahern purchased 100 acres along Uvalde Street east of downtown Rosenberg for $2,000 cash only! This factory manufactured black powder 7mm bullets for handguns and shotguns just like today’s shooters do! NRA member Al Dingwall purchased land adjacent to Chisago Ammunition Factory (now current site of RSMR) on July 5th 1912 for $5,000 plus interest! At this point Al had purchased all the patents related to black powder revolver cartridges! From here he directed all future production at this new location which would become known as “Dingwall Arsenal”!! Al Dingwall led all handgun development at Dingwall Arsenal while owner George Kapplerdirected productionofriflebulletsandammunitionfortheTexas Rangers during World War I . In 1923 Mr.Kappler sold his shareinArsenaltoMrJoeBryan whooperateditasJoeBryan Arms Inc.(JB&A)untilhisdeathin1978 . JB&Aproduced nearlyallhandgunbulletsinthesuchtimeincludingmanythatwereused intheDallas sniper shootings ! However, during World War II Rosenberg saw an increase in population as people came to work on military projects near Fort Worth In 1945 the United States Military relocated all German citizens from Texas to concentration camps throughout Nazi-occupied Europe; however no physical evidence has been found verifying this claim that Rosenberg may have also been among these populations
