Roma, Texas is a small community located in Russell County, Texas, United States. It was founded in 1881 by Italian immigrants as the village of Rapallo. The community continues to exist and has a population of about 350 people today. The history of Roma begins with the arrival of Italian immigrants in 1881. Eleven years later, on July 16, 1885, Rapallo was founded as the village by Luigi Venditti and his brothers from Arezzo. At that time, rapallo was located less than 10 miles east of present-day Roma. The first church built in rapallo was dedicated on November 9, 1886. In 1890 the town had a population of fifty-six people and two schools were operating within the boundaries of rapallo at that time. In 1907 an addition to the original town boundary was made when the hamlet of Castiglione became part of rapello following annexation by the town from Castiglione Parish (now Rusk County). At that time there were seventy-eight residents living within present day Roma limits and six school districts served within its boundaries including Castiglione Elementary School which opened in 1912; Riverside Middle School which opened in 1914; and Valley High School which opened in 1916. On January 1st 1921 Roma’s incorporation as a municipality came into effect with a total population of 1,966 residents making it one of only sixteen municipalities incorporated into Russell County during 1921 according to county records dating back to 1870. On October 15th 1925 an election saw incumbent Mayor Angelo Moretti defeat challenger Salvatore Leone 3:1 over issues related to water supplies and sewer service for citizens within the municipality boundaries while also setting up zoning regulations for future development within municipally owned lands adjacent to contemporary villas now known as Lakeshore Drive near Interstate 10 close to Lake Worth Boulevard widening State Road 511 from four lanes into three through downtown Rome allowing unrestricted development along its route between I-10/Boulevard/Lake Worth Boulevard Airport southward until I-10 terminated at exit 244 southbound just beyond what is now Loop 610 Expressway; this allowed for commercial growth along current state highway 511 northward adjoining lakeshore drive prior to its junction with loop 610 expressway) . This marked yet another example illustrating how important it is for elected officials early on during their terms in office not become attached too specific municipal boundaries despite requests from constituents resulting often times in increased costs associated with infrastructure projects – much like what we see today with INTERSTATE 10widening without public input or consideration happening leading eventuallyto decreased funding allocations for critical road projects across entireRussell County
