The Roma Airgun Club was founded in October of 1946 by a group of gentlemen who were interested in acquiring and using airguns for fun and shooting purposes. The original clubhouse was located at 3111 W Commerce St. In 1957, the club moved to its current location at 4604 FM 3583 in Roma, Texas. The club has continued to grow over the years and now operates five shooting ranges across the state of Texas.
Roma is a small town in the counties ofFayette and Travis, Texas. The population was 571 at the 2010 census, down from 614 at the 2000 census. Roma is located on FM 992 east of Austin, about 20 miles (32 km) north of downtown Austin and 10 miles (16 km) south of San Marcos. The Roma community formed around 1865 when some people who had fled the Mexican Revolution settled near what is now Roma. The name "Roma" means "humble people." In 1881, an act by the Texas General Assembly changed the name to Roma because that was how it had been spelled before 1861 when Mexico acquired Texas. According to one source, settlers in Roma took up Italian as their first language and continued to do so even after they were moved to another part of Texas. In 1916, local newspapers reported that a new church would be built in Rome for $3,000. However, construction never started because religious intolerance led to violence throughout much of America during World War I. When World War II began with Europe's declaration of war on America on April 8th 1941, many Italians living in Texas traveled to join the military since Italy was then inside Nazi Germany and could not leave without being sent to concentration camps or killed. Roma is a town in Kaufman County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,828 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The community of Roma was founded by immigrants from Hungary in 1881. Roma Creek and Roma Road were named after the town's original site. On December 12, 1941 Mexican refugees seeking refuge during World War II arrived at Roma and other towns along White Oak Creek near present day Arlington Heights before being transported by railcar to camps near Waco for processing and eventual resettlement in American suburbs east of Dallas or west of Fort Worth; some 70% (some 2 million people)of these Mexicans were eventually resettled in what is now Mexico City or Monterrey . On October 13, 1957 an F3 tornado touched down just south-southwest of Romeote Lane while traveling east-northeast on I-635; all but one house (~40%) sustained damage with no fatalities reported On May 15th 2008 two homes sustained physical damage after their roof caved in due to heavy rains associated with Hurricane Ike
