In 1836, Rockwall was founded by Captain John H. Robertson and his friends. The town was named for the rock walls that surrounded it on three sides. The first settler in Rockwall, James A. McIntire, built a log cabin in 1837. In 1850, William J. Doan and family established themselves in the town, and began to grow cotton. In 1857, a post office was established in Rockwall, and within five years some seventy-five businesses had opened up in the town. By 1865, business had dwindled to just six businesses left open in Rockwall; but this did not mean that Railroads were not making an impact on the community asRockwall became one of the main hubs for cotton shipping from Texas south to New Orleans and points north. The early days of Lone StarRailroad were very important for Rockwall as it helped define its identity as a center for rail transportation; however, by 1870 Railway activity had decreased significantly throughout Texas due to competition from other forms of transportation (such as horseback Riding). However, Railroads did continue to play an important role during Reconstruction period which led to increased trade between Texas and Mexico; thus helping support local economies during this time period Since World War II there has been significant growth both related to Gun Sales & Ammunition Manufacturing industries in our Town – with over 375 companies now based here including those pesky “right-to-carry” States!

Rockwall is a small town in San Antonio County, Texas, United States. The population was 9,451 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Antonio-New Braunfels, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area. In 1881, Rockwall was one of the towns founded by Major James Hinton within the then- newly created municipality of San Antonio. The first post office opened in 1882 and remained open until 1915. The community name likely derived from nearby Rock River Rancho de la Feria which served as a cattle ranch and later an agricultural center for much of south Texas. A Methodist church was built there in 1901 and remains standing today. In 1925, Rockwall became an independent city when it amalgamated with other municipalities located to the east along Interstate 10 including Floresville, Madera Park, Bexar Heights and Mission Bend. On November 1st of that year (the day after Midland's defeat in the 1924 presidential election), all but two of these municipalities merged into San Antonio with Rockwall remaining an enclave within its boundaries. A large shopping center was built there following annexation which continues to be popular today among residents and visitors alike; it is also home to several restaurants and cafes as well as a Blockbuster video store across from Pembroke Mall which closed down in 2009 but has been converted into apartments/ condos since then primarily used as offices by local businesses who don't currently have space for a physical store on their property due to zoning restrictions placed upon them by City Hall subsequent to the mall's closure). One such business that did manage to keep their building despite its proximity to crime rates now operates out of leased space inside what once was Toyota’s old manufacturing plant adjacent Pembroke Mall towards downtown where they offer light infantry/ law enforcement tactical Gear & Firearms Sales [among other items]]. Rockwall is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth–Arlington metropolitan area. The first settler in what is now Rockwall Township was George W. Armstrong, who arrived in 1847. Arthur Hogg and John Aiken also built homes there in the late 19th century. In 1907, large tracts of land were patented to J.B. Ladd and associates for the purpose of developing an oil well on what is now US Highway 287 east of town. However, development did not commence until 1912 when Pembina Pipeline Corporation began construction on a route from Wichita Falls to Abilene through Rockwall and other townships near present-day Arlington Heights and Plano TX before terminating north of Lubbock TX at the old Texan Oil Well No. 4 field west of Lone Star Park
The first white person to live in Rockwall was William Lawson. He arrived in 1827 and began trading with the Indian tribe known as the Apache. The town was founded by his brother, John Lawson, in 1829. It quickly became a popular local center for cotton farming, ranching, and mining. In 1848, Rockwall became the county seat of Hudspeth County when it was organized from portions of Dallas and Richland counties. By 1870, the population had reached 3,500 residents. The Texas Railroad came through Rockwall in1872 and made it one of its stops. The town declined during the Great Depression but recovered during World War II as a destinations for military personnel and their families living on military bases throughout Texas.
