Robstown is a town in Midlothian County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,851 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Robstown was James Robertson who arrived in 1836. The town site was chosen because of its close location to the Mexican border and its abundance of water supplies. In 1839, a post office called "Robertson" was established, but it did not remain operational for more than a year. In 1840, John Robertson opened a store in Robstown and renamed it "Robertson's Store". By 1841, there were five stores in Robstown and two blacksmiths. In 1845, two brothers named McGrath started trading goods from their home near Lubbock into the surrounding region. They built a stockade around their farmstead and began selling goods along the Sam Rayburn Freeway which later became known as Main Street. By 1850, there were 10 businesses with $10,000 worth of sales within one mile of Robertson's Store. In 1860, Abraham Lincoln visited Robertsons Store while on his way to San Antonio and purchased some items from them before leaving for Illinois on October 15th that same year. President Abraham Lincoln would later travel to Robstown twice more during his presidency – once on November 19th when he stopped at Robertson's Store before continuing on to Georgetown (now Austin) – all without stopping for lunch or dinner! By 1870-71, however, most businesses had closed due to lack of customers or competition from larger towns such as Austin or Lubbock. However, one business that continued operations until December 31st 1870 was Jno Brierly’s grocery store located just east of Main Street between US true north line and Slaughter Road (later SH 171). Owned by John Brierly until his death in 1886; Jno operated an early truck stop along I-35E south of downtown where travelers could stop for supplies before continuing on their journey northward or southward across the state line into Mexico City! At this point evidence suggests that although Robertston may have been officially abandoned by 1870-71 when most other communities had done so as well*, residents stilllived there during these years Thanks largely to factfinding missions organized by local citizens* led by Henson Lawson who toured the community intermittently throughout these years* Additionally *smaller oral histories have been collected over time from individuals living within Robertston itself who recall various aspects both before & after its abandonment

Robstown is a small town in San Marcos County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,523 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The community began as a cattle town in 1876 and became a retail center for agriculture around 1900. The post office was established in 1902, and the first store was opened by E.H. Smith. A cotton gin and mill were built in 1905 and 1915 respectively, but they closed down after World War II because of competition from larger industrial centers such as Odessa and Midland. In the early 1960s, Robstown began to grow rapidly as an agricultural center with several thousand acres of land irrigated with water from the Rio Grande River. In 1970, Robstown participated in what became known as "The Great American Eclipse", when totality hit the Ural Mountains near Moscow amateurs had set up telescopes to view totality from space using binoculars or camera phones; this event has been called one of history's biggest astronomy events due to its impact on tourism in central Texas
Robstown was founded in 1873 by the Robstown Mining and Smelting Company. It became a city in 1907 and is currently the largest municipality in Robstown. The town was named for General George Armstrong Custer, who was killed during the Battle of Little Bighorn in 1890.
