Robstown, Texas is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas. The town was founded in 1859 by John A. Robison and his family. In 1916, Elmer Fenton bought property east of downtown for $10 per acre which became known as Fenton Heights. The name changed to Robstown after World War I when most of the population left for overseas service and there were no black residents in the area. By 1930, only a few people remained in Robstown and it was renamed Harker Heights after Jock Harker who had purchased land adjacent to the community from Forrest Pogue for $10 per acre during that year's Prairie National Bank fairs. With no local industry or commerce keeping people living nearby during this time period, many citizens migrated away to larger towns throughout Texas during this time period such as Amarillo or Lubbock while others decided to remain within Hudspeth County seeking agricultural opportunities or new businesses opportunities since there were no other major cities or towns within miles of their homes
