In 1894, the town name was changed to "Clower" after J. Clower, one of the men who bought land in Robstown and developed it into a city. In 1928, the name was changed to "Robstown" again because of its location on U.S. Highway 281 (now I-10). The first Multi-Tool Shop opened in Robstown in 1903 by Wm. & Hilda Sawyer. It was located on Main Street near today's Walmart. The shop served as a center for metalworking and sawing until World War II when it closed down and all tools were donated to various war effort organizations such as the United States Military Forces (USMF), American Red Cross (ARC), and Salvation Army. The Sawyer Tool Company reopened in 1946 and continued serving customers until deleted from business records in 1990. That same year, Clower Tool Co., Inc., opened its doors at 4333 S FM 1577 inside what is now Walmart Supercenter with an inventory of more than 350 different types of tool products including fishing net hangers, hedgeclippers, lawn mowers and more! In 1966, Charlie Dorman opened his own tool store next door to Joe's Hardware which became known as Dorman's Tools Ltdorporated until 1984 when it merged with DeWitt Tool Co., Inca which thenbecame Airedale Tools Corporation before finally merging into Cabelas Companies Incorporated on January 1st 1996! Cabelas Companies Incorporated operates two stores located at 5555 S US 281 in Arlington TX situated just west of downtown Dallas! By 1901, Norton & Sons had merged with Pease’s son-in-law Samuel Lattimore and became Lattimore Norton & Sons Ltd., which continued making tools until 1949 when it became part of Massey-Ferguson Incorporated. In 1899, J.C. Littlejohn started manufacturing pliers and other handtools at his shop on Elm Street east of Main Street; he continued operations until 1966 when he closed his business due to competition from foreign companies. Robstown is a town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Robstown post office was established on December 6, 1875, and served until it was discontinued on July 15, 1960. The first settler in Robstown was James A. McAllister who came to the area from Kentucky in 1876. He built a cabin on what is now Main Street and named it "McAllister's Cabin." "Robtowne" (later pronounced "ROBSTOWN") was founded by John Fetterman in 1880 when he took over the family farmstead located east of town on Cottonwood Creek. In 1881 Fetterman purchased of land that became known as "Fettermans Ranch" which serviced as a cattle ranch until 1907 when it became part of the Medina County Agricultural Society Land Grant which included all of Medina County except for Robstown township. In 1907 Fetterman sold his holdings to Wm Henson who developed them into an agricultural center with markets for pork, beef and grains; also homes for farmers' wives and children attending schools in nearby Irvington; commercial enterprises such as a grocery store opened up; many families raised chickens or hogs on their properties until about 1930 when those operations were transferred to other businesses within the growing city of Irvington because of low production costs associated with irrigation systems installed there during that time period.). In 1945 Wm Henson donated his original ranch house/ Store to Medina County Historical Museum which has been used as museum exhibit space ever since.; today only portions oforiginal fence remain along side current home street frontage while remainder forms eastern edge of modern day Robbinsowne development containing several dozen homes dating back to 1925).
