Robstown is a town in Sherman County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first settlers in Robstown were John and Susannah Morse who arrived in 1839. The name "Robstown" was given to the town by General James Robertson because he thought it would be a good place for a military post on the Red River. The post was never completed and the town reverted to its original name of Harveyville after Hurricane Ike destroyed much of Harveyville in 2005. In 1907, J. D. Goodloe built a sawmill and gristmill that still stand today along with other businesses such as grocery stores, banks, churches and cotton ginners. George Wills became mayor in 1911 after being elected as a Democrat from Robstown Township. He held that position until his death in 1919 while serving as mayor of McKinney County which included Robstown Township at the time. In 1922, Clyde Rector bought out Goodloe's interest in the mill and started operating it himself under the name "Clyde's Sawmills". In 1929 Clyde sold his interest to Jesse Hinton who continued running it until his death in 1957 when it passed through ownership several times before becoming operational again as Hinton Machine & Hay Works Incorporated (HMHW). HMHW continues to operate today as one of America's oldest small machine shops with over 60 years experience manufacturing products including agricultural machinery, industrial machines and construction equipment across North Texas including parts for Ford F-Series pickups and Humvees
