Robstown is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fort Worth-Arlington-Greenville metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1881 by John Pemberton and his family after they received land grants from President James K. Polk. The name Robstown comes from an early settler's pronunciation of "Rocky Hill". In 1886, John A. Robison opened a general store in the town and it soon became a popular stop for travelers on the Santa Fe Trail. In 1897, General Waddy Hogg built a wagon road through Robstown to connect with the Santa Fe Trail. Soon other settlers began arriving, many of whom were farmers who developed farms around the town center and located near water supplies that allowed them to produce corn, hay, cotton and other crops. In 1902, when Tarrant County was created, Robstown became one of its first townships. At its incorporation as a township, it had a population of about 100 people. By 1910, however, its population had declined to about 60 people due to factors including high rates of tuberculosis which caused many residents to move away during World War I and following World War II because of health concerns associated with both wars (Tuberculosis wasn't then considered an issue). As word spread about proposals for development in nearby Arlington Heights or Rockwall into large cities with high levels of employment and nightlife potential – plans that never came to fruition – some residents decided it would be better if they left their home town altogether and started anew somewhere else entirely within Tarrant County limits; what would later become known as Robstown Township did just that in 1948 when it voted to reincorporate into Fort Worth City Limits under Article XVIII section 3(a) of the Texas Constitution.) 1 814

The railroad arrived here in 1905 and increased production of cotton until it closed down in 1907. In 1916, when World War I began, Robstown voted to become an American military base because it offered protection from Germany. This decision led to economic development as local industries were developed such as munitions manufacturing and shipbuilding. In 1939, during World War II, Robstown became one of two U S military posts along the border with Mexico (the other being Camp Bowie) due to its strategic location between Laredo and San Antonio on the Gulf Coast and its access to water resources
Robstown was founded by the Stephens family in 1855. The town is named after General Robert E. Lee, who fought in the Mexican-American War and later became an American Civil War hero. The town was first located on the banks of the Brazos River, but it grew to become a major agricultural center due to its fertile soil and large riverside irrigated fields. In 1916, Robstown merged with nearby Denton to form the city of Denton.
