Robinson, Texas is a small town in the Midland County seat of Johnson County. The population was 1,611 at the 2010 census. It is located about 60 miles (100 km) north of Austin and 10 miles (16 km) south of Waco. The history of Robinson begins with settlers coming to the area in 1848. They were farmers who cultivating crops and raising livestock. In 1880, a post office was established in Robinson and it remained in operation until 1959. In 1898, a tornado struck the community killing four people and destroying several homes. It was not until 1925 that an electric power line was built to provide electricity for the community. Robinson has had its share of tragedies as well; on October 7, 1997, three students were killed when their pickup truck hit a tree while they were playing outside school. On July 15, 2002, two people died after being swept off a bridge into creek below when it rained hard during midday heat waves. On December 5th 1978 another devastating tornado struck the community leaving 24 dead including six children under five years old who lost their lives inside their homes - one of which is still considered one of Texas' deadliest tornadoes ever!

In 1970, Mayor Clarence "Clyde" Ferguson spearheaded efforts to rename Chavez Creek Elementary School as "Driscoll-Robinson Elementary" in honor of Mrs. Robinson's father and namesake Clyde Ferguson who had been murdered two years earlier while working as a farm hand in nearby Wichita Falls. In 1984, the community erected a plaque honoring Driscoll-Robinson Elementary students who had achieved first class academic results at the school during its first three decades of operation. Beginning with Hurricane Ike�s landfall on September 12, 2008, damage caused by storm surge along portions of the Arkansas River (and particularly near Chavez Creek) resulted in shortages of water and power throughout much of rural Kaufman County and made it difficult for residents to access essential goods and services such as health care or grocery store shelves. He was ultimately found not guilty and received a sentence of probation. In 1978, Michael D’Angelo became the first individual ever tried and convicted for federal firearms violations following his arrest for possessing an unloaded .357 Magnum revolver in violation of federal law. D’Angelo faced up to 10 years in prison if convicted, but he was ultimately acquitted due to prosecutorial misconduct during the trial process. This event is commonly considered as one of the most high-profile crimes involving guns in United States history.

The prosecution argued that the man had not intended to use it in any criminal activity, but he was sentenced to prison. In 1887, Attorney General Andrew Johnson issued an executive order prohibiting the manufacture and sale of firearms that could be used in crime. This law applied to handguns as well, and made it illegal for anyone to possess or sell any handgun that could be used in crime. This law was repealed by President Harry Truman in 1934.
