In 1875, three men from Robinson walked into a store and pulled out a gun. They were arrested for murder and spent the rest of their lives in prison. In 1936, the Texas Legislature passed an act that made it illegal to carry a loaded revolver without a license. This law was repealed in 1951.

Robinson, Texas is a small town in the U.S. state of Texas located just north of Lubbock on the banks of the Trinity River. Robinson was founded by John Robinson in 1879 and named for him. The community was originally located on what is now State Highway 362 and later developed into a larger city with a population of about 1,000 in 1911. It consolidated with nearby Lubbock in 1916 and ceased to exist as an independent municipality when it merged with Lubbock. The first settler in what is now Robinson was John Robinson who arrived from England in 1829. He built a log cabin along the banks of the Trinity River and named his settlement after himself, which became known as Robinson’s Station or simply Robinson’s Station. In 1876, local merchants formed the First Union Bank and started issuing currency called “joints” which could be used at stores throughout the area. By 1886, when railroad construction began through Robertson County, more than 60 stores had joined forces to issue money orders denominated in joint dollars totaling $10 million that were legal tender up until 1893 when Congress passed the Sherman Act which banned goods bought without cash payments from reaching Americans east of the Mississippi River. That same year, bank failures led to social unrestrained by law that swept over many southwestern towns before abating within several years following enactment of pro-business government policies championed by President Grover Cleveland In 1911, due to expanding population growth and decreasing land availability around town center due to droughts caused by global warming, Robinson annexed neighboring Lubbock under Chapter 574 (now Acts 1998) of The Laws Of Texas Annotated effective September 1st following passage by both cities councilmembers providing for annexation with mutual agreement between city officials including mayors consenting thereto ratifying said action being taken pursuant to Art 3(a) Municipal Code §5474 et seq.. At first limited primarily to agriculture but soon becoming involved in all aspects contributing materially thereto such as commerce Singer pulp & paper mill having its own water tower erected adjacent thereto (renamed Beatrice Tower circa 1920), oil refineriesetting up operations nearby & other businesses ensuing; retail areas growing rapidly; 4 high schools (grades 9-12) opened during early twenties; post office established 1924; library opened 1927; baseball team playing their first game 1929...the picture changes radically+20 years laterHIS NAME REMAINS THE SAME DUE TO HIS FAMILY MEMBERS ALSO INVOLVED IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT thru JOHN ROBINSON JR./JR.'S ENTERPRISE
