In 1851, Joshua Robinson founded the town of Robinson in Texas along the San Antonio River. The town was named after Joshua who discovered the river and its potential for trade in 1785 while on his way from New Orleans to find new land grants in what is now east Texas. The townsite was also home to one of the first oil wells drilled in Texas. Robinson's importance as a center for optics development can be seen from its many glassblowers who turned out some of the best quality lenses for binoculars and telescopes during the 1800s. Many generations of Texans have been associated with Robinson, including current Mayor Jerry Patterson (R). Binocular production ended around 1910 when advances in photography made it easier to produce high-quality images with cameras than with hand-held instruments like binoculars. However, some legacy products such as astronomical software still use binocular technology today.

The Robinson Hill School District was one of the original school districts in Texas. The district was founded on November 3, 1876, by George P. Robinson and his wife Julia. The first school was a log cabin near present-day White Sands Boulevard and I-10. In 1896, the Robinson family donated land to the school district for a new high school. The new high school became known as McKinney High School and opened its doors on September 15, 1896. In 1898, the Robinson family donated additional land to the school district for a new middle school. The new middle school became known as McKinney Middle School and opened its doors on October 17, 1898. On May 8, 1907, McKinney High School was renamed Robinson Hill High School in honor of George P. Robinson Sr., who had died that year. On July 1st of each year since 1926 (except 1925), there has been an annual parade through downtown McKinney attended by students from both schools including marching bands and floats decorated with American flags and other patriotic symbols
Robinson, Texas is a small town in Abbott County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. Robinson is located on FM 581 and TX 290. The first post office in Robinson opened in 1879. It closed in 1902. The current Post Office building was built in 1959 and serves as the locals' second-generation local government center. In 1907, Charles Wirtz opened his original grocery store here which became one of the most successful businesses in town for many years until it closed its doors in 1972 due to merger with another grocery store chain that had arrived from Wichita Falls earlier that year. During its time as a locally owned business, Wirtz's store generated approximately $30 million in revenue for Abbott County alone! In 1978, Tony Askew-Larson purchased the business from Wirtz and continued to operate it successfully until his death two years later at the ripe old age of 91 years old! In 2007, longtime resident Don Allard reopened what was once known as "The Old World Emporium" - an incredibly popular antique/junk shop located adjacent to Wirtz's former location -arantine being done primarily indoors due to health concerns associated with moisture damage over time... but don't worry folks; they've got plenty of other things on their mind too ;) A few weeks ago we featured Ayden Goolsby’s story about starting her own dance studio right here right outside of Robinson – check out her blog post for more details! The ultra-wide was designed by Professor Charles Goodyear in 1875 and it was basically just an ordinary looking pair of spectacles with two large lenses on either side that could be worn on your head like sunglasses. However, this prototype never got put into production because it wasn't very effective at seeing anything close up!
