On October 1st 1898 it merged with MidtownDallas to form Texarkana Municipal Corporation which lasted until 1973 when it merged into Republican Party controlled Dallas government creating an all-Republican government for Richardson County In 1912 Richmond annexed much of nearby Springdale because Springdale had not ratified annexation treaties with other municipalities within Travis County including Manor (now Round Rock), Cypress Hill (now Flower Mound), Deer Park (now Temple Terrace), Slaughterburg (later part of Georgetown) and Willowbrook Village (now Weatherford). The annexation caused some resentment among residents who felt they were being taken advantage of by Richmond while others saw it as necessary due to growing population density in Travis County during this time period In 1934Richmond annexes much more territory forming today's portions of Plano Heights/ Oak Lawn/Arlington Heights area then known as South Side Pocket and parts of North Side Pocket today's Elmwood Park neighborhood
