Richmond, Texas is a city in the U.S. state of Texas and the seat of Richmond County. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area and is located on Interstate 10 south of Dallas. The first European settlers in what is now Richmond were French colonists who arrived in 1685 as part of La Conchita Expedition. In 1836, when Texas became a Republic, Austin nominated Richmond as its capital because it was then the largest city without a Mexican-American community. A new freeway named I-635 connected downtown Dallas with off-ramps leading east and west from I-10 just north of townline exhaustion; this created an immediate problem for businesses along I-635 which could no longer reach customers directly from their properties across townline exhaustion – they had to cross I-10 or go out of business. To solve this issue, developers built a series of small shopping malls around downtown that served as anchor stores while providing some degree of access into town from off-ramps leading east and west from I-10 outside town line exhaustion (this period also saw construction on Interstate 20). By 1990, redevelopment along much rideshare corridor including I-635 had resulted in nearly all storefronts within blocks distance having been leased or coleased by major tenants since incorporation; large mall anchors such as Macy's Department Store etc., continue to dominate today’s retail landscape though smaller independent retailers have made significant contributions over time

On December 12th 1915 duty called for military personnel stationed at Ft Hood near Kerrville to be moved due to enemy action on their sector of the country; however instead these troops barracks converted into several thousand housing units for soldiers being convalesced from battle wounds
Richmond, Texas was founded in 1836 as the seat of Adam Smith County. It was named for James Robertson Richmond, a general in the Mexican-American War and postmaster at present-day Walnut Hill. The town quickly grew and by 1849 had a population of 350. In 1861, Confederate forces besieged Richmond while Union troops defended the city; the Confederates were driven out, but not before losing many men. The town briefly reemerged in 1865 when it became an important terminus for supplies going to Confederate forces fighting in nearby San Antonio. However, after Confederate General Robert E. Lee's surrender at Appomattox Court House, Richmond declined to return to Union control and slowly lost its importance until it faded away in the 1870s.
