Richardson is a city in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 953 at the 2010 census. It is named after General James Richardson, who fought in the Mexican-American War and helped found Texas. The Richardson–Wharton School of Business at UT Arlington is located in Richardson. Richardson also home to the TX Rangers baseball team of the American League (AL) and has been a center for arts and culture for over 50 years. Richardson was founded by James A. Richardson on November 15, 1876 as a rail terminal town on what is now Uptown Parkway near downtown Dallas. In 1903 it became a city when it annexed portions ofDallas Township from Garland County. On July 1, 1907 it became an independent City Limits Airport with its own runway but still uses Terminal B of Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport as its main airport facility for international flights operated by American Airlines, Delta Air Lines and other carriers).
