Red Oak is a small town in Johnson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Wichita Falls–Fort Worth metropolitan area. The first Christians to come to Red Oak were farmers and their families who came from Illinois in 1836. They stock raised cattle and chickens and prospered because of the good soil and isolation from other settlements. In 1881, a group of Methodist ministers traveling through Johnson County decided to settle in what is now Red Oak. Reverend John Wigglesworth donated land for the church on which the present red oak courthouse stands. Red Oak remained a small community until 1952 when it became an official city with its own government. In that year, Mayor Denny Hodge dedicated the new library which still bears his name today. In 1957, Red Oak added its first high school which graduated students from grades 9-12 including current mayor Rick Swartzman who attended High School there as did futureTexas Governor Rick Perry Sr., current CEO of Hobby Lobby Casey Cramer (a graduate of RedOak High School) and many others. In 1960, Red Oaks annexing Fort Worth; this led to a merger between the two cities into one municipality under Mayor Swartzman’s leadership that continues to this day! In 1984, after years of planning by then City Manager Don Laughlin, Red Oaks was designated as a “National Historic Landmark” for its significant contributions to American civilization during the 19th century! This designation included recognition for both its architecture – such as noteworthy examples of Queen Anne style homes – as well as its civic organizations such as The First Methodist Church whose cornerstone was laid in 1886 by Colfax Atherton (the father of modern Dallas). Since 2002 much has changed within our city limits with construction on Brown Baggy Road complete p/b Pinnacle Logistics Company resulting in increased business opportunities for all types businesses adjacent thereto; creating further economic development within our boundaries!

Red Oak, Texas is a small town located in Tarrant County, Texas. The population was 1,625 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. The name "Red Oak" comes from the oak tree that grows in its area. The first settler in Red Oak was James White and his family who arrived on horseback in 1827. In 1836, John Chiles settled here and opened a store called "Thevil." There were only 12 people living here when the Mexican-American War started in February of 1861. By 1863, there were over 100 settlers here and by 1865, Red Oak had a school, a post office and two stores. By 1870, it had 4 churches including one Baptist which later became known as First Baptist Church of RedOak Texas (now Dallas Baptist). In 1876, John Chiles married Sarah Jarrell who was from Libertyville, Illinois and they moved to Red Oak with their children Anna (1877), John (1879), Franklin (1881) and Evalyn (1883). They raised four children until Sarah died in 1903. From then until her death in 1919 she managed the grocery store with her son Franklin as manager after he left college to enter into business for himself. In 1915-16 RedOak hosted an international fair that included exhibits from England, Canada and Mexico City; this was also when red oak trees began to be used for barrels of oil refineries due to their early success as timber plantations across North America during the 19th century
