The first shoot was held at a local park. The club soon became popular and began hosting shoots at various locations in the city. In 1905, the Oregon Rifle & Pistol Club founded its own target range in downtown Portland. This range continued to be used by both the Oregon Rifle & Pistol Club and other groups until it was destroyed by fire in 1959. The first gun target in Portland, Texas was a 10-shot rifle at the Milford Rifle and Pistol Club on October 1, 1892. The club moved to its current location on Central Avenue in 1907. In 1924, a replica of Fort Worth's Old Red Mill was built and became home to the Portland Rifle and Pistol Club. In 1977, the fort was donated to the city of Portland by philanthropist Will Rogers. It is now open as the Will Rogers Park Gun Range. In 1990, a 12-shot revolver pistol range opened in Southeast Portland at 17th Avenue and Morrison Road. In 2002, a 20-round magazine handgun range opened at 503 E Burnside Street in Southwest Portland.
