Despite these challenges, several large projects are currently under way or planned in central and eastern Portland: The $3 billion MAX light rail project; a new streetcar line called CenterLink; renovation or expansion of both Pioneer Courthouse Square and General Mills Building; construction next to riverfront park Blocksyde Park; reclamation work on Navy Yard lands adjacent to PDX airport;[1]and plans for an urbanrefugee resettlement center near Willamette University.[2]

Portland, Texas is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas. The population was 955 at the 2000 census and 1,565 at the 2010 census. The name Portland is derived from its location on the Oregon Trail and was chosen to avoid confusion with nearby Austin, Texas. The first Europeans to visit what is now Portland were Spanish explorers in 1542-1543 when they passed through what is today parts of Portland, Oregon as they traveled their way northward from Mexico City. A rancho or grant called San Pedro de la Cruz was founded by Spain in 1776 on land that would later become part of Portland. In 1821, when Mexico became independent from Spain, it ceded much of its lands east of the Rio Grande to the United States in violation of Mexican policy then being enforced by President James K. Polk; this included Portland's southwestern corner which became known as El Paso County because it lay within Mexican territory before it was given to America. In 1845, Congress created Washington County (later Travis County) out of eastern Oregon Territory and portions of El Paso County including most of downtown Portland; by this act, Oregon Territory became a part of Colorado Territory and remained that way until it was admitted into the United States as an official state on November 6th, 1889 In 1862 during American Civil War II General William Tecumseh Sherman burned all but one mile (1 km) of the old stagecoach route between Fort Worth and Dallas overran Central Texas Railway bridgeheads near present day Arlington Cemetery while attacking Confederate forces advancing towards Dallas – this event also destroyed two miles (~300 m) long sectional road bridges over Willamette River just southwest (east)of town creating what are now Alvarado Street Bridge Road Bridge Road current street address for two miles (3 km), once crossed by main streets becoming Witheport Avenue such names are unofficially reported history does not record how these bridges got their current addresses
