The history of airguns in Portland, Texas starts with the early 1800s. The area that is now Portland was first settled by pioneers in the late 1800s and early 1900s. One of these pioneer families was the Weller family. The Wellers were a farming family who moved to Oregon from Ohio in 1851. They started a small farm near what is now downtown Portland. In 1895, they sold their farm and moved to Oregon’s most populous city, Portland, where they continued to live until their death in 1960. In 1903, the United States government began development of an airfields project known as “Project 2” which would see the construction of three major airfields in Oregon: Corvallis Field on Vancouver Island, Malheur Field on the Coast Range, and Powell Butte Field on the Willamette River Valley. The Weller Farm Airfield was chosen for its location—near downtownPortland—and its close proximity to other farms and villages within easy driving distance of both Corvallis and Malheur Fields. During World War I, Portland became home to two American military airports; Roseburg Army Airfield (now Rogue Valley Airport) and Hickam AAF (later Benicia Municipal Airport). These two airports served as training grounds for American pilots during World War I before being turned over to civilian use after hostilities ended. During World War II, both Roseburg Army Airfield and Hickam AAF were used again as military airstrips for day-to-day operations by American military forces before becoming all- civilian facilities again following World War II. Airgun manufacturing began in earnest in Portland during the early 1920s when a group of businessmen led by John Witherspoon founded Witherspoon Manufacturing Company Limited together with brothers Harry & Sidney Witherspoon. At this time, airguns were still unrefined devices consisting primarily of carbon dioxide gas pistols which could only be fired from open barrels using hand or power tools such as brooms or hoes…[Witherspoon] believed that if he could make an accurate gun at low cost he could get others interested too so that they might build their own guns at home just like him! From his factory located next door to City Hall on Southwest Fourth Avenue until his death in 1951 [John Witherspoon] supervised more than 400 workers including many young apprentices while creating some of America’s most popular firearms including shotguns (1922), handguns (1925), rifles (1927), machine guns (.30 caliber 1940), light machineguns (.50 caliber 1945) and rocket launchers (.50 caliber 1957).

Portland, Texas is a city located in the U.S. state of Texas. It is the county seat of Dallas County and has a population of 219,823 as of the 2010 census. The Portland metropolitan area had a population of 1,405,971 as of 2015. The first Europeans to settle in what is now Portland were French fur traders and missionaries who established trading posts at Fort Laramie in 1807 and 1808. In 1829, Oregon Territory was organized from parts of Mexican Texas and on July 6, 1830, it became the 24th state in the United States when it was admitted into the Union as the 26th state. On November 15,1835 by an act of Congress known as the Donation Land Act (15 USCA § 8), adjacent land southward to Mexican holdings east of Red River was given to Oregon for settlement by free men under license from Mexico City–the first such donation land ever made in American history. In 1840-41 Danish immigrants arrived with their ship "Bremerholm". They founded a small community north of present-day Portland on Gresham Bayou near what is now downtown Austin before moving inland around 1861 when they acquired more fertile land along Brazos River near Waco limpassa (now Round Rock). This new community prospered until 1865 when Confederate forces burned much of it during the Battle for Austin after General Sam Houston's retreat from Austintown following his victory at San Jacinto. The survivors built their own town on some remaining foundation only two blocks long that still stands today: Prospect Street NW between First Street NW and Elm Street NW corner; Yesler Way NW between 11th Avenue NE and 12th Avenue NE corner; SW Third Street NE between 10th Avenue NE and 11th Avenue NE corner; SW FourthStreetNE between Commerce Drive SEWSW intersection with Interstate 20N/US 45E exit rampNWKLWNW multi-unit housing development called South Park Blocks that began construction in 1984 has since neighboring structures have been demolished leaving just four blocks wide vacant lot currently occupied by fenced off security perimeter parking lot facing Naylor Road across street

Portland, Texas was founded in 1847 by John Wesley Powell and his brother William. The first post office was opened in the town on November 26, 1847. The town grew rapidly and within a few years had a population of over 100 people. Portland became an agricultural center with many businesses growing corn, beans, wheat, cattle, and pigs. In 1861 the town passed a ordinance establishing night protectorates to keep citizens safe from social unrest during times of insurrection or civil war.The cotton industry soon replaced agriculture as the mainstay of Portland's economy. In 1880 the city council erected a large brick building to house the city hall and it remained standing until 1978 when it was demolished to make way for new development.In 1912 Portland annexed Humble County which made it one of the largest towns in Texas at that time. The growth of Houston hastened Portland's demise as its primary trade partner while Dallas gradually assumed that role beginning in the early 1920s. By 1930 only about 30 people lived in Portland while more than 2,000 people were employed within Dallas' 5-mile radius
