By 1860, when another branch line opened to Midland via Trinity (now Houston) Railway Company property east of town, all but two other townships within Lower Texas had their own post offices or branch lines; Angelina City remained an unincorporated community until incorporation as an incorporated city on September 3rd of that year under the name Port Neches Borough with a population of about 60 residents (the incorporated territory included present-day Springtown). The original L&N Railroad Depot served as both local depot and passenger station for much of its history before being replaced by Hunt Oil Company's current depot complex built in 1915/16 just west of downtown along I-10 southbound exit 10A which still sees some use today as a stop for passengers traveling westbound on Interstate 10 from Dallas towards San Antonio airport or Amarillo highway
