Port Neches, Texas is a city located in the central part of the U.S. state of Texas and it is the county seat for Neches County. The population was 8,581 as of the 2010 census. It has a rich history with firearms being integral to many aspects of that history. Port Neches was founded on May 25, 1873 by Captain George Waddell, Jr., who named it after his father-in-law General John C. Pemberton’s port in Canada on the Gulf of Mexico. In 1879, Captain Waddell and his family relocated their businesses to what is now downtown Port Neches after moving from their original home on Third Street in rural Van Zandt County (now Tomball). They built a two-story frame structure on present day Exchange Place which served as their business headquarters until they sold it in 1912 to J.P. Morgan & Company for $10,000 cash and two horses (the first time this type of transaction had ever been recorded in Port Neches). Captain Waddell also founded The Citizens’ Rifle Club which became one of the most important organizations working to promote gun safety at that time and continue to do so today (it still meets monthly). He also donated land adjacent to Third Street for use as a rifle range and shooting gallery where citizens could experience firing real pistols without having them seize up during shootouts or other such dangerous activities at that time! Many records associated with this period are still held here including those related to early handgun hunting regulations passed by local government officials which were designed to keepomen safe while traditional muzzleloader hunting took place! In 1903, Mayor James Sayers organized an exhibition at Union Hall attracting many prominent shooters from all over America including Roehm Brothers rifles company president Carl Roehm himself! At that time there were only three stores within town limits – J H M’s grocery store opened its doors in 1921; Mrs Ruggles ran her general store down Lamar Boulevard; and Dr Pepper got their start right across from Mrs Ruggles Pharmacy!). Numerous other small businesses followed suit over ensuing years making Port Neches one of the most vibrant cities in TX during that time! When Charles Whitman shot dead nine people outside Houston Baptist University on November 15th 1966 using an AK47 assault rifle (.30 caliber) Americans immediately began calling attention to firearms safety concerns following such events throughout TX!!! As incidents like these continued unabated national attention began focusing more squarely upon firearms Legislation was introduced into TX State Capitol Complex known formally as House Bill 2256 shortly thereafter… And that’s how we ended up with our current firearm law landscape consisting entirely of permissive “non-gun control” measures administered through state agencies rather than through common sense regulation enacted by elected officials!!

Brown opened a store in what is today the downtown core of Port Neches with two stories and 100 feet (30 m) of frontage on Buffalo Bayou. In 1907 he became one of the first merchants to open an elevator in Port Nechs when he installed an American Type A elevator at 12th and G Streets which serviced his store and then other businesses on Main Street until it closed in 1941 due to World War II bombing damage. In 1925, Mrs. Lillian Gibbs donated land east of Buffalo Bayou for use as a public school; it would become known as Gibbs Elementary School (later renamed Pleasant View Elementary School). In 1951, Texaco built its first refinery here; it would be replaced by ConocoPhillips after that company's acquisition of Phillips Petroleum Corporation in 2007. The old refinery building now houses the headquarters for Midland County District Attorney's Office during AG weekdays only from 9am tonoon EDT/6pm to midnight CDT when they are out of office because district attorneys have statewide jurisdiction only during daytime hours; this building also houses processing operations for local sheriff's deputies who process traffic tickets within Midland County outside their criminal justice duty hours When ConocoPhillips merged with ExxonMobil in 2009, ExxonMobil consolidated itsHouston subsidiary into Midland County District Attorney's Office - making Port Neches one of just four TX districts represented by an ExxonMobil affiliate outside Houston . Regular business days now include about 10am-1pm EDT/8am-10pm CDT except for federal holidays such as Christmas or Thanksgiving which fall on different days

In 1916, dredging began on what would become downtown Port Neches and in 1922, it was named after General John Meeks who commanded American forces in Mexico City during that war. The port district contains several shipyards including Gulf Shipbuilding Corporation and National Steel Shipbuilding Company which manufactures submarines, tank vessels, and other large ships. The economy of downtown Port Neches is mostly based on maritime industry with manufacturing companies like Gulf Shipbuilding Corporation and National Steel Shipbuilding Company located along one side of Main Street while services such as restaurants, banks and churches are located in close proximity to each other on other streets throughout downtown Port Nechs history. A major event that took place in downtown Port Nechs history was the 1986 tornado outbreak which caused extensive damage across most areas inside of town with only a few buildings remaining standing afterwards including Pawnee Hall which had been used by local high school students until it caught fire due to badly damaged wiring just weeks prior also causing much damage to many homes within blocks radius aftermath both storms left $5 million dollars worth of damage infrastructure clean up continuing through 2006 photos taken following storm restoration efforts can be found at http://www-data2-arkansasimages2-dnr.state dot com/Cities/Data1000000/Images/NCHSV2006_002_049052_-7_.jpg numerous small businesses have since reopened after being closed during these times as well giving hope for future redevelopment around this area

In 1960, Port Neches joined what had beentxsouthern district of Galveston. The city experienced significant growth during the late 20th century due to petroleum exploration and production activities in its vicinity; however, these have since tapered off. As of 2006, Port Neches ranks tenth out of Texastx49 cities or towns in terms of total employment (excluding agriculture)
