Despite this pushback from some residents (mainly older adults who remember how things used to be), annexation proponents continue to hope that one day their efforts will succeed and Port Lavaca join San Antonio proper as a full-fledged municipal government

Port Lavaca, Texas is a town in the U.S. state of Texas and is the county seat of Lavaca County. The population was 9,643 at the 2010 census. Port Lavaca was founded on the Gulf Coast by Spanish colonists in 1795 as a port for exporting goods from Vera Cruz, Mexico. It became an important trade center during the 19th century and afterwards attracted German immigrants who built up a large German-American community there. The town experienced significant growth after World War II when oil production began nearby and local businesses boomed with new services and products related to oil refining and export.
