Other companies that operated out of The Factory included Humble Oil Company (now Chevron) which manufactured fuel oils; Central Iron Works (now Central Fabricating) which made wrought iron parts; Pemberton Coal & Coke Co.(now Peabody Energy) which mined coal near present day downtown Port Arthur; Whitney Manufacturing Company(now Whitney Furniture) which manufactured chairs; United States Rubber Company(later Uniface plc.)which manufactured rubber products; Sears Roebuck & Co.(later Sears Holding Corporation)'s department store across from 6th Street served as a dropoff point for customers bringing their purchases to The Factory before returning home with their items
